it's simple as I understand it... remove the solenoid, hide it in the dash.
you can test to see if it's been done... turn off the car, crank the wheel, if it locks... |

I would call your dealer and have them check your vin to be sure they did the recall.

From what I learned during my ordeal with this problem, if the steering wheel does not lock, then the recall has been performed on the car. What the dealer may have had to reset was the actuator. If it does not retract far enough, it will not tell the BCM that the wheel is unlocked, therefore the "Pull Key Wait 10 seconds" message, and the car will not run past 2mph (it will shut off). Per Paul (the guy on TeeBee's vid), this usually happens because of a weak battery. The system is very touchy as to that issue. A second recall installed a "K" harness that should have fixed it. On my car, once I installed an Optima Red Top battery, I had no more issues.......going on 3 years now. I can still hear the actuator when I turn the key. It obviously does not lock or unlock, but it moves enough to give the signal to the BCM. The guy in TeeBee's vid (Paul) was at the NCM Bash this past weekend......answering questions, and I heard him telling some other guys the same thing he told me, and is on the vid. Good luck with the C5.....you'll love it! |
