Not necessary with a tune. In 89 fuel enrichment at start up was added in the tune. So if you are eliminating the cold start injector, the tuner will just make up for it.

That what Alvin at pcmforless was telling me when we talked the other day. Getting ready to have Alvin do the retune for the new enhancements.
I am going to try polishing the SR this weekend. Son brought some from the 4x4 shop he works at. If it works I will put some pictures up. If not off to friends Plating shop for Power coating. He wants to make it look like a Dominos Pizza box. Lol

What size injectors did Alvin recommend - 24 or 30?

Not done more work on polishing

The store selling por 15 said the heat would make the coating yellow

He recommended this clear coat from KBS

I was also told that you can clear power coat.
Of all the products I looked at the price for power coating I am told would be about the same.

Por 15 is some of the most worthless crap on the planet.

2 guys will say any product is "the best ever" as long as they get paid. They certainly don't test this stuff.

KBS has a good rep but I haven't tried it.

DupliColor's Hi Temp Ceramic is bullet proof (I use a lot of it) but don't know if they have that in Clear.

All the powdercoat shops can do clear, it comes out really nice but, I'd discuss the high temp application with the owner (for yellowing, etc.)

Just left friends house he owns plating shop here in Bakersfield. He just about quoted you. Lol
The high temp application will cause yellowing.
He called someone from KBS and I have a quart sample of the stuff on the way.

Cool, this will be interesting, take good pics.

If Diamondclear is as good as on better than Duplicolor's anodizing paint, you'll be good.

and good luck with that. i wanted to kill myself when i was done with mine.

i didn't have to do anything to my distributor. the worst part was when i needed to pull it back off, i hit the harness with the rail and made sparks, the car quit running, and i sold the intake because i couldn't stomach installing it again.

2 words. bloody knuckles. mine had the plenum to runner configuration changed. the holes were drilled out in the plenum, and the runners were tapped. then safety wired the bolts so they couldn't fall in.

It is frustrating...I did mine over the course of 2-3 days (I don't recall) since I'd only get an hour or hour and a half a night to work. Taking a break helps. Slotting the bolts and using allen caps helped immensely.

FWIW, I had my SR polished and they used a ceramic clear to preserve it. I've not had time to make the top of the engine as 'pretty' as I'd like..... yet.

Agreed, with so many comments about taking a break when R/Ring the SR. I swore I'd sell it if I ever had to do that again, but with practice it IS easier. A 'professional' (and I use that term very liberally in his case) drilled out the base, using Nylock nuts, which work and have held well for some time. I have found that some of the 'under' bolts have insufficient clearance for a ratcheting box; tedious.

My biggest gripe is the repeated mashing/damaging of the W/W cover, no matter how I try to shift the engine, etc. I've been thru 2 so far, and they are getting rare.

Well welcome to the site. Nice picture. When I put something new to me I take my time. Don't like you said doing it over.
