I saw a thread on this elsewhere and decided to give it a try. The brake dust and road grime build up on the wheel barrels over the course of time and looks bad. So I took the wheels off and cleaned everything up first. Then I used some gloss black caliper paint that can take temps up to 900 degrees or so and painted the disc hats and then after using some 400 grit sandpaper on the wheel barrels and some laqure thinner I painted the inside of the wheel barrels the same gloss black.

I used a small roller to paint the wheels instead of taking all the time to tape each wheel off and using spray paint. I think they turned out well and took some pics of the before and after. I think it really makes the chrome pop and looks good with the Blade Silver on the car...

This is the rear wheel but showes what it looks like before.

The same wax you use on the silver will make it easier to remove the brake dust on the clear coat.

That blackout procedure probably would work on Honda parts too.

I like it and it's a good thing you took pictures because they will only look that good once. I'm not trying to be a downer but we all know the drawbacks of black paint. It gets dirty just looking at it. In any case, it's a nice job and looks purdy. I really, really want to know what you think come the Memorial Day Virtual Car Show 2014. Everybody is working hard on their cars right now to give the best presentation. While you have it looking great you should take a few pics for the show.

I need to put on some Hawk pads to get rid of a lot of the dust. The paint dries into a hard slick surface but as we old Harley guys learned a long time ago black can hide a lot of dirt oil and grease.....that's why we all wear black T-shirts.....

I don't think Hawk HPS will be that much less than what's in the "dirty" pic (what I run).

Might work a bit better though.

That turned out really nice Marcus. I have always noticed how dirty the inside of my wheels are when they are pulled off. I really like that idea of painting them. I am interested to see how well it holds up.
