I had noticed a vibration in the front end...

Last night, I popped the hood and found the right front shock had blown out!

Koni adjustable... oil all over the top of it, the rubber bushing all shot to hell...

time for cheep old KYBs to get over the hump then have the Koni's rebuild.

There's only 3 authorized Koni rebuilders in the U.S. and possibly some shops that can get the parts.

When I first saw this thread's title, my first thought was "damn, I hope it's not Andy's car again."

Damn.

I would rather jump to a C6.

But at this point, money is the deciding factor, so, parts are cheap. Car payments, additional insurance costs... not so cheap.

more and more thanks to Brad!!!

The ride is back to where it belongs.

From my estimates, the compression was ok, it was rebound that was affected. The shock was slow to open back up. Very odd.

Time to rotate the tires, install rear shocks and the new bolt, do some cleaning...

... AND no guarantee with a new machine against breakage (only of the warranty repair)...

You ARE setting aside each month the equivalent of a payment??? Then if no C4 breakage, you come out ahead! Plus, if you 'miss a payment' (or can only make partial payment), no sweat ;)

I got my old set of reds in storage. The rears are damaged from bottoming out. Won't work anyhow.
Fronts should still be good.
Make me an offer I can't refuse.

I'll be in your neck of the woods mid-May (17-18)
So I'll cover the shipping unless you need them sooner.

I also have some No-Name external adjustables. 84-87
Picked them up for a C note. Sell for same.

I am good for now, Steve. The KYB's that jonsZR1 brought down are working fine!

I think come fall, I will upgrade back to new Bilsteins. I can get them from work on the cheap.

I am keeping the Koni's, I suspect... send them in for rebuild, if the price is right.

Latest and greatest... just replaced the rear shocks and spring bolts.

The left rear spring bolt was bent a touch when the spring let go... so in went new bolts.

Thank God for the new shocks... the left rear was weeping a touch from the adjustment point... (Koni yellows)... the right rear was down right spewing oil out of the adjustment point!!! I say these are trashed.
