been a long time since I posted here.
Wifes '96 is getting new magnaflow unit installed, all new hoses, rebuilt rack and pinion, rear main seal, break pads and a few other odds and ends. Should be good to go this Monday. Might have been cheaper to buy her a dang newer 'vett but what the heck--she just loves this one---

I lust after newer ones, and then I think about no payments, relatively cheap insurance, $55 (used to be $49) license plates, and not having to fork over thousands in sales tax - these things make my old '96 look pretty good ;-)

I agree... do the math... All that work might cost $1000 at a dealership... BUT!!!

Let's say a new C7 is $75k... at 5% interest for 5 years, that's $1415 a month. Screw that.

Add in the taxes at purchase, and in some places that can hit 10%, that's another $7500... Make that $7350: $600 in fees and another $6750 in tax!!!

Add the added insurance, which I hazard to guess at. The annual renewal in CA is based on the car's wholesale book value, but that would still hit

All I know is my car is paid for.

My annual renewal is $128, with the personalized plates, and my insurance is only $75 a month, with really killer full coverage from State Farm.

Man... doing math like that really does wake you up, eh?

C4 is back home---
The Magnaflow Exhaust sounds great.
Steering is like night and day. much better now
All in all it seems more spunky...
With all new belts, hoses, speed sensor, rebuilt rack and pinion, rear main seal, install the magnaflow and a few other odds and ends the $3100 was well worth it...

$3100 or do it myself. I looked in the mirror and the guy looking back at me doesn't have those kinda skilz or the tools. Will that be cash, credit or debit? I'm with Andy though. I hate paying sales and excise taxes, higher insurance premiums and such. If I were to pay 75K for something it has to have a bedroom and a bath.
