Great to see road trip pics. Really makes me want to take a road trip. Maybe a road trip to nowhere. See where the roads talk me (or us). It's hard for Sue to get away too often and she gets a little off center when I talk about going somewhere on my own. About the only place she lets me go alone is the doghouse or a visit with my Mom. Yes I could just go off alone but not sure that would be a wise decision. I still might suggest it though.

The next big one is in April 2015 for our 20th wedding anniversary. The code name is "Slow 66", meaning that we will travel far less per day than our previous two Route 66 trips (perhaps 350 miles a day).

By the way (and we didn't manage to take a picture) during our Lincoln Highway trip, we saw a civilian train with two Abrams' being transported on one freight car. We had never seen this before - do you know if this is common?

I've seen tanks on railcars before. Is it common? I don't know. When I saw them I thought it was pretty cool.

QUITE COMMON. SIZE AND WEIGHT MAKE RAIL LOADING A GOOD CHOICE FOR DISTANCE MOVEMENT. IT'S NOT SO COMMON TO SEE IN THE STATES AS IT WAS IN GERMANY AS TRAINING AREAS HERE COINCIDE WITH UNIT LOCATIONS. IN GERMANY YOU HAD TO GO QUITE A WAYS TO FIND A PLACE TO SHOOT.
