Yesterday the weather was perfect, the wife and daughter are gone for the weekend and I hadn't taken the Vette out for a real run since replaced the u-joints on the half-shafts the other month.

Turned into a coin flip day. Come to an intersection, flip a coin: tails go left, heads go right and if it lands on the edge or doesn't come down then go straight (did lose a couple of coins along the way). Ended up going about 250 miles just exploring back roads and experiencing anything I came across. Spent part of it driving along the river, watched a few boaters and stopped into a small art fair I came across. The car ran like I wanted it to, seemed to enjoy the run as much as I did.

Saw a few other Vette owners along with a Ferrari that were out enjoying the day. So many people out enjoying the weather, it was great.

Absolutely great day, hard to make it any better than it turned out, all things considered.

LOVE THEM COUNTRY ROADS, AS LONG AS THEY'RE PAVED. IF NOT I DRIVE THE TRUCK.

THAT JOHN DENVER SONG WAS POPULAR IN VN MY SECOND TOUR. USED TO MAKE ME HOMESICK FOR THE TIMES DRIVING THE BACK ROADS DRINKING BEER WITH MY HS BUDDIES.

THEY LATER WROTE A SONG ABOUT US:

"WE TALK TOO SLOW, DRIVE TOO FAST,
WE'RE HIGH ON LIFE, BUT WE'RE LOW ON GAS."

Sounds like a day in paradise to me! That's how you find the best little hole in the wall restaurants, too.

Sunday wasn't quite as fun but still good.
The comment on places to eat, found a great little place for breakfast. Biggest Omelet for little cash. That art fair was interesting: tiny town that had more art dealers than residents. The whole town was on a back roads 2 lane, maybe 3 blocks long and not sure if it's more than 2 blocks wide. All the routes I took were paved, though I saw one or two gravel roads I was tempted on, but didn't.

Sunday I got the hose out and washed and waxed the truck, the T-Bird and the Vette. A bird caught my windshield with a 'large' load of crap on saturday. Quiet around here with everyone gone, enjoyed cleaning and waxing them all. I even found I have a set of lights in the Vette on the rearview mirror I didn't know I had.

The only downside is I bought a dash camera the other day trying to figure it out. Looks good, worst set of instructions I've encountered in decades. Looks like it was a photocopy of a photocopy then reduced in size so it's unreadable. The text looks like it was written in another language and run through some translator. The vendor says the instructions "are good" and they have no others. Trying to decide if I want a cheap unit without a lot of understanding or send it back and buy a higher priced unit.
