I recently added a 2005 Z51 with 4K miles to my play pen and love the car. The only thing I am struggling with is the map lights on the rear view mirror wont turn off? anyone have a similar issue / remedy?

Thanks!

I found this info on another forum -

On the dash panel by your left knee is the button that controls the map lights, it should look like this:

Resized Image

Try pressing that down when the engine is running or car has been sitting a while and it should turn them off.

This should be in the owner's manual.

Good luck,

Matthew

Thanks Matthew- that was it. I took a quick look in the manual this morning but must have focused on the buttons under the mirror and not the one you mentioned. Thanks again,
Pat

A bunch of guys say they accidentally bump it with their knee while driving since it is mounted lower on the dash.

Glad that fixed it.

How do you like the C6?

I love the car- it is amazing. Good balance between performance / handling and control. I have a buddy who upgraded from a mustang to an 09. We will do a track day (i hope) this summer at Mid Ohio so I can really experience the car. This is my 3rd Vette but 1st C6. What a step up.

The only mods are the 08 rims, upgraded exhaust and stripes

looks sweet!

There is also a road course over in South Jersey, right? And BeaveRun in Pittsburgh, and you are kinda close to Summit Point, WV, too. For that matter, Pocono is close.

Where in Philly? One of our long term members is in West Philly.

I am a native of Dover, DE.

Thanks. I've had the car for 3 months now and drive it rain or shine.
True, i do have tracks closer to experience the car. Mid Ohio is more of grudge match now that I think it through I'm near King of Prussia actually, about 45 min from Philly. but can easily get to any of the tracks you have mentioned.

I have not ventured into tacking traction control off yet-that will be the next step for me.

Welcome to the Guru....glad you like your C6, they are great cars.....I have had that same problem with the mirror lights and remedied it the same way. Thanks to Matt on that......the cars computer will shut the lights off after 15 minutes when parked for that long so it won't run the battery down but the lights need to shut off or stay off....

More pics of your car if you got them.....we love the pics...

I left it at "West Philly," so as to not be too specific.

J3's area is really nice. Lots of trees and hills...

Likewise on the "outside Philly" easier for people to know where I am. Although I'd not mind another location lately, seems I'm getting excellent wet weather driving experience this season.

I used to visit family in Lancaster County when I was a kid.

Another member, Chris lives there as well.
