This is why I'm writing this blog.

Starions were actually reasonably popular along with their "captive import" Conquest bretheren. This was back when Mitsubishi actually looked like they could make a go of it in the USA.

Either way, they all shared that 2.6l MCA Jet 4-banger... torque monster (for a 4 pot) but not very durable.

They liked shearing cam shafts... had some serious oiling issues.

The turbo's only made that worse, but they were quick and with some tricks could be seriously fast.

My personal 80's car was a 1981 Celica Coupe. 2.4l I-4... PS, PB, AC, AM/FM/Cassette, sunroof. Great car. Not super fast, but nice looking in a BMW kinda way. I had that thing for 6 years and about 65k miles. Took it to FL twice.
