edit:
Matt, Andy, BillH; can images be displayed linking from a 3rd party filehost???

-----------------------------------------
I got a nice roof panel, which has the sagging headliner.

I clipped a T-shirt with my school logo on another headliner that I did a few years ago, and got my tailor to emboss it onto new fabric.

I found a couple T-s from an eBay seller, and looking for colored to match Red and Ruby felt from the fabric shop. Only got Black now here...

Resized Image

Removal of old foam pad:

I put a butter knife to the edge, to get under it. Make sure to hold the knife flat on the edge, to not scratch...

(images uploaded later here)

Then you can get a hand in.

*image*

Once you get under the edge, ya' gotta' pull the fabric off of the panel with your fingers. Don't try to pull it by the edge of the foam board - it will break up.

Wear long sleeves!

Go all the way around the edge, then work toward the center.

(at this point, the edge DID break, and I had to go around the other way)

That's pretty cool Chuck.

I'm not sure on the third party but lately some images have been coming up like yours. Just click on it and it comes up.

I've only had this "image" link happen once when posting from "my computer" but others have had more.

The pics in my computer get posted.

If you're posting from PhotoBucket, you have to change the 2, (img)'s in the link to small case letters.

Once removed, I put a roller with Acrylic Latex Black to the foam pad, to stop dust from falling through the felt, and to give a little strength to the pad.

I also glued a 3/16" styrofoam board, cut into sections, to the roof panel side of the foam pad. I'm looking for noise absorption too with 3" exhaust, and a HEAVY drone.

Then I placed the felt, and flipped back the felt to apply glue to the lower half (using this for adhesive - http://www.lowes.ca/adhesives/tec-ski ... or-adhesive_g1536194.html ).

Then the top half, and allowed it to dry overnight.

Dried.

Start fitting the overlap.

The forward concave curves are tricky. I made 2 cuts in the apex of the concave curve, to about 3/8" of the edge.

All the way around:

Flipped; check interior surface:

Now flip back, un-tape, and glue the overlap...

As far as the pics, use photobucket or similar for embedding. If you upload the pics they will be at the bottom of the post as is done above.

I got Google file hosting for snappics there Matt; is it easier for embedding that way? I hate when guys' pics exceed screen display, and I have to modify link code anyway.

Anything wrong with how I got it in post 3, 4?

Still love that Black / Black w/ Black A-molds! I don't like my Red at all - Hope to get it under the Black spraygun sometime soon here.................

Glue the lip to the panel side - I'm using RTV Black:

Re-tape, allow to dry, then set the pad into the panel.............

I wonder if 3m spray adhesive would work better than rtv?

As far as the pictures - nothing wrong with how you did them. It's just if you want the text to be associated with a specific picture, I prefer to embed it. Use whatever hosting site you have them uploaded to.

I think everybody that posts H/L repair uses stick-spray. And EVERYthing that 3M makes is GOOD. They've held their own against the market for almost 20 years for me here. WIsh I had more in 3M...

But the tendency of the pad to disintegrate gives me pause. The TEC felt glue seems to press INTO the pad material, in addition to the water-based Acrylic latex that I applied to the interior side. The overlap I probably could have used stick-spray, but the RTV supply abounds in my garage.

The whole assembly will get pasted to the panel with more of the TEC felt glue as well here...

Funny that you say that there Matt; I just talked to the guy a few weeks ago, that I sold my Black '94 to in '09. He's made a TRUE Garage Queen out of it... It was in top condition, and I forgot to ask about the Skully headliner...........

I DID ask if he'd trade it back for the Z tho'; he didn't take, even with 1/3 the miles. Resized Image

And thanks for U-name change. What took so long !!!

Set. (got the embed text correct there Bill, to sync with snappics [Matt] - thanks).

Glue onto the panel:

Resized Image

and set into place:

Resized Image

I did not cut the overlap deep enough into the front corner concave curves, and I got an ugly buckle on the D side.

And I placed a 3/16" styrofoam board glued onto the panel side of the pad, for extra exhaust drone kill. I have a glass top too, so I can measure interior sound with that top, and then again with the insulated Black top (when the rain stops)...

Hey Chuck, The stupid Private messaging won't let me paste something into thee reply. This is for PhotoBucket. when you see a pic you want to copy, it will have a little star in the upper right corner. If you put your cursor over that, youll get a drop down, left click the link under "Images", it will flash and say "copied". The link will look like this when U paste into a post:

Once U paste it in your reply, change these 2 (red) IMGs to lower case and you see the pic in your post.

Only part I DO understand is '404 [TOOL] not found' (or bolt), after dropping something around the motor...

... unless I hear it hit the concrete. Then I know where it is without looking - pull a string from right rear wheel, to left front wheel, and another string from left rear wheel, to right front wheel.

Where the strings intersect, there's the tool. I call it the Tool Finder App.

Well, for U & Me, the glass is a "winter" top, it really heats the interior up.
But, since I don't have a harness bar, I need some place to mount the camera where it shows the driver and his hands.

You may find a top on ebay but the company for new or rebuilt is Melrose Tops.

Ya Bill 107 yesterday hotter today.
They do transfer a lot of heat. That's why I see the headliners for these. Not for me.
Like a different look some times
& I still need a paint job.

I would ideally like to have both tops....but it's not in the budget right now. Fiberglass is nice for the summer months because it keeps the sun from inside the car.
