Good morning gang.

We had showers roll through overnight and it cooled down some but the humidity didn't go down. We are suppose to get more today on and off.

Word of the Day Tuesday, August 26, 2014

rusticate\ RUHS-ti-keyt \, verb;

1. to go to the country.

2.to stay or sojourn in the country.

3.to send to or domicile in the country.

4.to make rustic, as persons or manners.

5.to finish (a wall surface) so as to produce or suggestrustication.

6. British . to suspend (a student) from a university as punishment.

Origin:

Rusticate is derived from the Latin verb rusticārī meaning "to live in the country." It entered English in the mid-1600s.

Today is NATIONAL CHERRY POPSICLE DAY

Each summer on the 26th of August, Popsicle lovers across the United States celebrate National Cherry Popsicle Day.

In San Francisco, California, in 1905, 11-yr-old Frank Epperson was outside on his porch, mixing water with a white powdered flavoring to make soda. Upon going inside, it left it there, on the porch, with the stirring stick still in it. That night in California, the temperature reached a record low and the following morning, Frank discovered the drink had frozen to the stick. This inspired the fruit-flavored “Popsicle”.

Years later, in 1922, Epperson introduced his treat at a fireman’s ball, found it to be a huge success, and then in 1923, he made and sold his frozen treat-on-a-stick at an amusement park in Alameda, California. In 1924, he applied for a patent for his frozen confectionery, which he called “Epsicle” ice pop. He then renamed it “Popsicle“.

Popsicle’s are one of summertime’s favorite treats, for kids of all ages, and today honors one of the great flavors; CHERRY!

Have some fun and try making one of the following “tried and true” Cherry Popsicle recipes:

NATIONAL CHERRY POPSICLE DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator of National Cherry Popsicle Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

Good Morning CGs!

Rained here yesterday pretty good. More rain today. I really need to cut the grass. I might try to mow and bag it since it's garbage night anyway. I just hate bagging the grass, it's a pia.

I ordered some new seat leathers for the Vette last night. Some vendor on ebay, so I will have to see how they are. Supposed to be real leather and made from original patterns...I have a feeling they are imported, but for the price I paid there can't be any complaints if they are as listed. I will keep you advised.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Greetings! Very nice day here, gonna be mid-70's and low humidity - even Bill would like it. Speaking of Bill, he's doing a fine job derusticating that '67.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Morning guys...I hate the start of school. It makes me so busy getting people and things in order. I came home yesterday and got the Corvette inspected, then delivered a computer I was working on. Then worked on another computer for most of the evening. I got wood in the shop waiting on me to build a few things and I want to drive the new Vette.

Sorry guys, got to go.

Holy mother of pearl...we got 4.5 inches of rain last night and not a drop in the basement.....hallelujah....N/A beers for everybody......normally we would have been up all night with the shop vacs going to keep the flooding to a minumum....money welllll spent...

This will also be the end of the season as the rain was widespread and more on the way......ahhhh....

Tom don't you hate when work gets in the way of having fun with your new ride.....speaking of Corvettes I was going south on U.S. 81 yesterday and a red GS passed me headed south...I was in my pickup....and a bit later a dark blue C7 was headed northbound and a few minutes later a C5 was headed north....with I had been in my GS...so I could do a lot of waving....I waved anyway...

Watch out for flash flooding Guru's.....be safe today...

I've been between one personality that's like running through 6 gears to the redline and a second that is in park with the parking brake set. That leaves me in the middle ........ torn apart. The sonny boy saga has peaked. Getting everything into place as best I can. He is settling back in at his uncles place. Condition appears to be terminal. Tying up some lose ends and then I should be able to return to a somewhat hectic existence. My entire life has not been easy. This pretty much guarantees that will continue till I'm dead and gone. See, there will be peace in the valley one day. Good thing I'm not drinking or I'd be getting comfortably numb. To all the good things in life ........... a toast!

HUMIDITY IS BACK AND THE CHEROKEES ARE STEAMING AGAIN,

GOTTA GET OUT EARLY IN WEATHER LIKE THIS; DROVE OVER TO TAHLEQUAH FOR BREAKFAST AT THE HOLE-IN-THE-WALL CAFE WHERE DARLING WIFE GOT A GREAT OMELET A WHILE BACK. THAT MUST HAVE BEEN AN ABERRATION AS TODAY'S WAS MOST UNMEMORABLE. MAYBE THE COOK QUIT.

ALSO WENT OVER TO FT GIB TO VOTE IN THE RUN-OFF. ONLY ONE GUY I WAS INTERESTED IN VOTING FOR, A LOCAL BOY THAT'S DA. THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE CROWD IS TRYING TO GET ONE OF THEIR FLUNKIES IN THE OFFICE.

I ASK IF I COULD CHANGE MY REGISTRATION TO "LIBERTARIAN WITH ANARCHIST TENDENCIES" BUT THEY TURNED ME DOWN :-)

Thanks Brad.

Work on the 67 is halted for a while. I haven't bought groceries for 2 weeks. And the shop's closed for a Hot August Nights thing.

Tomorrow, I'm helping a friend move his cars to a new house, 2 Panteras, 2 Ford GT40's and 2 Formula Atlantics.

Then, I'm starting a restoration on a 1970 Formula Ford to get some bucks for the 67's engine build.

Saturday we'll be on the racetrack.

I'm tired.

Monday I ordered a car cover from Mid America Motorworks (a Guru Platinum Sponsor) and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Just picked the car up from getting its first oil change. Minor surprise at the bill but hey, it's worth it. Note to self consider purchasing a pair of ramps and do this at home from now on.

Tommy, I truly wish things would settle down for you.

BillH, with all the dedication you have shown to the 67, now you are going to spend the day moving a bunch of blue ovals around. But I will admit, they are really cool blue ovals.

Time to head out again, Toastmasters awaits.

Nice car, bit I'm not a fan of the black interior.
Pass side mirror was dealer installed.

And since I went away from the factory on the paint, I'm thinkin' of American Racer Torque Thrust, gray/polished.

I'm having a little snort to toast Mom, who would've been 95 today. Not that it makes me feel old or anything :-P

Busier than a one eyed cat watching three mouse holes today at work. Never seen anything like it. I need a break. From everything and everyone. One way Mexico ticket. Some people's inconsiderations today have reaffirmed my notion that I hate people - well not all of them, but the general masses of them. Woke up this morning at about 1:30 am, never fully returned to sleep. That didn't help. Came home and made a deer/beef meatloaf, some pasta and mashed taters. Cousin was headed over, her kid's car took out on the way over so they headed home instead. Must be something in the water, found out last night my car needs a balancer. fkn wonderful. There goes some more of what little vaca money I thought I might get to get away for a bit with. Have a skeeter in the house I can't catch. He knows where I'm at though... ugh.
Tommy - prayers that things will settle for you.
