I would like to rebuild my 89 with all new bushings and use what was OEM the rubber. I have not found a source for those, do they only make poly for the C 4 cars? If I go with that how much diffrent will the ride an the look of the bushings once in the car?

No rubber bushings available.

Poly is the next cheapest choice. If you have the coin, the Banski kit is the way to go.

then you need to order NOS parts... poly won't pass... not even in black.

You see, they poured the rubber bushings into the aluminum arms, so they need to be replaced.

You can do poly on the batwing to the chassis, cause no one will be able see up there!

For NCRS, you are out of luck unless you find NOS like Andy said or very good used parts.

Poly will not pass at a regional or national judging. Local? It depends on the judges. In my experience, my aging bushings' orginality was worth the few condition points I lost ...

... how many miles on your 'vert?

My perception is that you need something there, though I'm willing to accept correction about this. The other reason that I stuck with the original rubber was that I was told the polys ride harder and I figured the stock 1985 Z51 was hard enough ...

I don't want to discourage you, but 150k is really high mileage for serious C4 judging. There's a likelihood that many of your original parts have been replaced and there's a lot of preservation (cars with say, under 20k, often trailered) and not so much restoration in this part of the hobby. I stood out from the rest of the C4s when I got my final Top Flight at about 69k.

the first time I had it judged it scored a 93. just missed top flight. it was a chapter but this chapter judges hard so that if you took it to a regional you would not be shocked to find you had a 3 flight car. took a lot of hits for small things like hoses belts tires ect the old car is tight. I had a things like gates belts hoses BF Goodrich tires that more or less just picked me to death on the small stuff it adds up in this game.

Sounds like you know what you are getting into - best of luck!

And this is why I won't deal with NCRS...

I spoke with one of the officers from the SoCal chapter a couple of years back.

To say he was condescending would be not giving him enough credit for being an egregious asshole.

I recommend Spicer for u joints. I have an old thread called c4 common part numbers you can search for that lists them.

As far as the wheel bearings, I think there are a few after markets available. Look for ac delco / gm if you can find them, otherwise timken.
