Love my factory LT4 system. Those don't drone. Neither do Corsas for $1k. Otherwise you could look at the factory style replacements in the magazines, those aren't supposed to drone, either.

Find a used LT1 or LT4 exhaust system and modify it to fit your L98.... Easy to do.

Heck I gave mine away to a guy for that purpose when I put the Corsa on my 92... now I wish I had it back on the car....

Also be aware, Steve, that mufflers that sound one way on a 350 will be totally different on your stroker. My magnaflows were deep and rumbly on my stock motor, but the stroker and headers made them unbearably loud/droning.

A answer I was looking for. There is a big difference from the time I installed the Stroker.

Many years ago it was called resonance. In sound applications, a resonant frequency is a natural frequency of vibration determined by the physical parameters of the vibrating object

When you hear the resonance or drone, you will know it and you won't like it. It's just plain annoying and tells you that the manufacturer doesn't know how to design a muffler as far as sound control is concerned/

Corsa Performance Combats Drone With RSC Technology

By Jason Reiss

How Does It Work?

Performance mufflers typically take certain avenues to dampen sound – reflection, absorption, or some combination of the two. The sound that travels from the exhaust is a pressure wave that’s formed from pulses of alternating high and low pressure, which make their way through the air at the speed of sound – no surprise there, right? Engines create those pulses when the exhaust valves open at different times, and the high-pressure gases escape from the cylinder and enter the exhaust system. The gases stack up with the lower-pressure molecules in the pipe, which leaves an area of lower pressure behind it in the pipe. Now multiply that by four, or six, or eight cylinders, and you have an exhaust tone as the pressure pulses reach your eardrum.

I don't have the money for this.

Lt1 $100-$125 and I pay shipping . owner claims only 9000 miles on it before change.
Is that a muffler where my third cat would be.
Any opinions

being offered a deal on this can this be cut up and shipped or does it have to go freight? My third cat is where the resonator is in the middle. or do I leave that resonator there.

Two pre cats and a third cat in California is nuts. I realize they are for I believe warm-up in cold areas

That is the resonator in the middle. That is a decent price but shipping will be expensive.

He can cut it and you can have it welded or use band clamps.

Yeah - they were stock. VERY restrictive. Some of the guys on the Z boards say 2" headers + 3" open pipes (with mufflers) is good for 22 - 25 HP more.

I couldn't see it, but one of them is THE Z authority - Marc H.

Biggest gain is WAY COOLER running temps. I KNOW it is running AT LEAST 15' cooler with wrapped 2", + 3" exit pipes. THAT'S something that some of the other guys could NOT see. Last Winter, 1' cooling fan (set for 205'), would come on @ about 18 minutes from cold start, while tuning, in carport, outside temps upper 40's.

Now, since May exhaust install, ONLY this past August, did local stop n go driving get it up to 205'. I had to turn on A/C to check fan operation, since fans didn't come on all Spring + Summer.

Very interesting. I know when my precats went out they were so hot they boiled the brake fluid out of slave. Took over a year to find the heat source.

You can pick up the hangers from ebay or a corvette recycler. It is a set of three - one front off the transmission and two rear off the differential (right and left sides).

Ordered these just the other day they almost look brand new. Dino's Corvette Salvage LLC. Quick service the right part I believe.

Steve, here is how my guy installed my setup using flex pipe. Just an idea for you. I'm not sure how you plan on doing it with the cats since California is so strict.

Wow thanks for the picture.
My idea was to cut back pipes to connect to cats. Flex pipes makes it look simple.

I like it because it makes the exhaust system less rigid. I was constantly retightening collector flange bolts before.

Well this weekend will be the time to measure and decide how much to cut and where I will hook the hangers from the exhausts to. Important things using flanges or weld pipes to cats.

On a stock car, the double spring hanger attaches to the transmission. Not sure how yours will work with the TKO. The other two hangers go on the differential.

The front exhaust hangers aren't that important, IMO.

After I installed my long tube headers on the 92, the front hangers won't fit any more (didn't line up with the Exotic Muscle extension pipes). So I just have the rear hangers on the differential and the muffler hangers on my 92.

I would take your old L-98 Y Pipe and cut each side off just before it bends - so that you have 2 straight sections comming off the Pre-Converter ball flanges.

Should be pretty easy to splice that to the LTX catback.
