Good morning gang.

Welcome to the first day of Fall. It actually gets here at 10:29 pm today.
Should be nice today with sunshine and temps in the upper 60's lower 70's.

Word of the Day Monday, September 22, 2014

hebdomadal\ heb-DOM-uh-dl \, adjective;

1.taking place, coming together, or published once every seven days; weekly: hebdomadal meetings; hebdomadal groups; hebdomadal journals .

noun:

1.a weekly magazine, newspaper, etc.

Today is NATIONAL ICE CREAM CONE DAY

National Ice Cream Cone Day is celebrated annually on September 22.

While there is some controversy as to who invented the ice cream cone, one of the earliest mentions of them showed up in French cook books around 1825. They were originally referred to as “little waffles” rolled into a cone shape.

Ice cream cones first became popular in the United States in the late 1800s. The earliest cones were rolled by hand. The ice cream cone made its debut at the World’s Fair in St. Louis in 1904. In 1912, an inventor from Oregon obtained a patent for a machine to make them. He sold his company to Nabisco in 1928 and they still make ice cream cones today.

The ice cream cone continues to be a popular treat for children and adults alike as more flavors of ice cream continue to be made available to please our palates.

NATIONAL WHITE CHOCOLATE DAY

National White Chocolate Day is celebrated annually on September 22.

White chocolate does not contain cocoa solids, so is not chocolate in the strictest sense. During the process of manufacturing chocolate, the dark-colored solid parts of the cocoa bean are separated from it’s fatty content, but unlike milk or dark chocolate, they are not reincorporated. As a result, white chocolate does not contain as much caffeine or antioxidants as it’s darker counterparts.

The first white chocolate bar was launched in Europe by Nestle. Today it is found in many forms, including liquid, liqueur, fudge, ganache, truffles and candy bars.

NATIONAL CENTENARIAN’S DAY

National Centenarian’s Day is celebrated annually on September 22.

National Centenarian’s Day is a day to honor those who are 100 years of age or older. The day was originally proclaimed as a time to listen to centenarian’s as they have so much rich history and wisdom to share. Nationally, a number of groups have been formed to honor our centenarian’s. Often, listening to their life stories proves the age-old saying that with age comes wisdom.

HOBBIT DAY

Hobbit Day is observed annually on September 22.

Hobbit Day is the birthday of the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, two fictional characters in J. R. R. Tolkien’s popular set of books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. In the books both Bilbo and Frodo were said to be born on September 22, but of different years. Bilbo was born in the year of 2890 and Frodo in the year of 2968 in the Third Age (1290 and 1368 respectively in Shire-Reckoning.)

The American Tolkien Society first proclaimed Hobbit Day and Tolkien Week in 1978, and defines them as this: “Tolkien Week is observed as the calendar week containing September 22, which is always observed as Hobbit Day”, but acknowledges that Hobbit Day pre-dates their designation

Good Morning CGs!

Driving home last night I felt like the car had a miss or a lack of power. Couldn't explain it. Pulled in to the garage and it was idling kind of rough. Checked the fuel pressure, good, and ran the live scanner and saw no problems. Reset the PROM, a few other things, nothing seemed to make a difference. Took it out for another test drive and ran great. Still can't explain it.

Starting to get a little chilly here. This is fall weather. Supposed to be 65 today, but yesterday didn't get even that high. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Hidey-ho! Another Monday is upon us. Pretty sunny out there, in the places that aren't foggy, anyway. Drove the Vette again as its days are numbered. Making a mental list of things that should be done to it, and it is making a mental dent in my wallet.

Have a good day, yawlz!

Brad, when the Vette makes it's way into the garage for winter storage ...... out of sight, out of mind. Another springtime project. 6 months of peace in the valley. (Except for shoveling, snow blowing and honey-do's.)

Didn't hear a complaint about the heat in the last 2 days, saw nothing but smiles.

Was out in 2 Z06's for only one session, 2 first year drivers. After 5 events this year, the way they are driving their cars has totally changed. So has their street driving.

Julian dropped 4 seconds on his lap times with crappy tires.
I figured out how to program the alerts on the dash (have to do it with a laptop connected). The analysis software will be a whole lot harder.

DARLING WIFE IS CHANGING TO FALL DECOR. THIS REQUIRES MANY TRIPS TO THE LOFT OF THE BARN ON MY PART, ALONG WITH PISSANTING IT UP THE HILL TO THE HOUSE. I MAY CHEAT AND GO MECHANICAL.

The Fall stuff in Florida looks exactly the same as the Spring and Summer stuff. No dragging needed. Christmas is another story.

Sue ended up at the metal recycling yard and there was a guy there with 2 custom 6' aluminum gates with aluminum palm trees adorning the center. The recycler was gonna give him $28. Sue said, I'll give you $50 and the guy said OK and they loaded them on her pick up. The guy later told Sue he paid the local fence company $7200 for the gates when he first bought them. One mans trash is another mans treasure once again. It is being repurposed by the pond. You'll see pics in the future. One of the gates was complete . The other needs to have some palm pieces reattached. Sue's at the welding shop right now. Naturally, that means another job for me. Cleaning up the gates. I'm thinking of using aluminum wheel cleaner and a Teflon scrub sponge or should I use diluted muriatic acid? She really got a steal of a deal.

It was almost nice to go back to work today after the weekend had.

Saturday I headed for the races at Eldora, 3 1/2 hour run. It was a nice ride in the Vette.

We made it through warmups, qualifying, and the heat races, then the rain showed up at about 9:00. At midnight it was still raining and didn't look like it was going to quit anytime soon. I declared it a rainout and headed for home figuring to be in bed by about 3:30 or so.

About an hour from home I come upon a truck laying on its side across all 3 lanes of I-71. It looked like a dead dinosaur laying there. Stuck in traffic fro 3 hours. Finally made it home around 7 a.m.

So much for a fun weekend.

Long day at school, came home and took a little 20 minute nap and then went out to mens night. Didn't play all that well, but had a good time and a good meal.

Watching the Royals. They are ahead right now, bottom of ninth, one out. Detroit lost, so we have a chance to pick up a game.
