Good morning gang.

Cool and clear this morning. Should be partly cloudy and temps in the 50's.

Let's get going.

Word of the Day Tuesday, October 21, 2014

realpolitik \ rey-AHL-poh-li-teek, ree- \, noun;

1. political realism or practical politics, especially policy based on power rather than on ideals.

Origin:

Realpolitik comes directly from the German word of the same spelling which means "politics of realism." It emerged in English in the 1910s.

Today is NATIONAL PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE DAY

Adding pumpkin to one of America’s favorite dessert’s gives it it’s own special day. October 21 annually celebrates National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day and fall is the perfect season to enjoy this delightful and delicious dessert.

Cheesecake is a sweet dessert that is a mixture of soft fresh cheese, cream cheese or cottage cheese, eggs and sugar on a crust made from crushed graham crackers, crushed cookies, pastry or sponge cake. Pumpkin may be added to cheesecake recipes in various ways, for example it may be: swirled throughout, mixed completely with all ingredients or layered. Cheesecakes can be prepared baked or unbaked, can be flavored and are often served topped with fruit, fruit sauce, chocolate or whipped cream.

It is possible that an ancient form of cheesecake may have been a popular dish in ancient Greece. It has been found that the earliest attested mention of a cheesecake is by Greek physician Aegimus, who wrote a book on the art of making cheesecakes.

*James Kraft developed a form of pasteurized cream cheese in 1912. In 1928, Kraft acquired the Philadelphia trademark and marketed pasteurized Philadelphia Cream Cheese which is now the most commonly used cheese for cheesecake.*

North America has several different styles of cheesecakes:
◦New York-style cheesecake
◦Pennsylvania Dutch-style cheesecake
◦Philadelphia-style
◦Farmer cheese cheesecake
◦Country-style cheesecake
◦Lactose-free cheesecake
◦Cheesecake Kludys
◦Chicago Style cheesecake
◦Savory cheesecake

NATIONAL REPTILE AWARENESS DAY

Each year on October 21, people across the nation celebrate National Reptile Awareness Day. This day was created not only as a day for reptile lovers to celebrate but also as a day to promote education, conservation and animal appreciation for reptiles; a day to learn about their natural habitats and the ecological threats that they are facing.

A reptile is any amniote that is neither a mammal nor a bird, is cold-blooded, has scales or scutes and can lay eggs on land. ( a scute is a bony external plate or scale, as on the shell of a turtle or the skin of crocodilians. )

There are more than 10,000 species of reptiles.

Happy National Reptile Awareness Day.

Morning guys....was busy trying to pack for the trip to KC. Was going to just get up and go in the morning, but we decided to leave after I get home today, and go half way to FIL house and visit with him. It will make for a much easier trip in the morning.

We are under a DENSE fog warning this morning.

realpolitik is an oxymoron. There is nothing real in politics. It's all a charade. Why do you think they call them party affiliations?

Wait for the conventions and I'll prove it.

Good Morning CGs!

Got RR#1 off to school. Almost forgot to make her lunch, I was rushing to make it as they had their coats on standing at the door. But we made it in time. Came home and started some gardening projects my wife planned for me - digging out some bushes. Got cleaned up from that and now I took RR#2 to gymnastics. I have to run to the grocery store and post office, then get home to finish some laundry and trim the bushes in the front of the house. Can't miss my workout, though, some it will take some time management. I learned that from Tommy....sometimes jobs get put off until tomorrow

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Trying to do some tweaking on the motor home wrap at the graphics job. Scratch disc on the pc too full to do what I need unless I do one thing then save, one thing then save. Getting annoying, but it's a HUGE file. Yesterday at the other shop was helping disassemble the back of a real motorhome, they'd apparently backed it into something and patched it with an unimaginable amount of caulk and left it for a long time. Rotted and just nasty.
Warmed up today finally, think we'll hit 75. I hate fall and winter. I'm a summer gal. Happy Tuesday..

I just added to my spare parts inventory - bought a NOS pressure plate. I bought a new lightweight SMF and a sprung disk and a few other odds and ends last year, but still needed a pressure plate. If the engine has to come out again, the new stuff will go in.
