Good morning gang.

I imagine Tee is going to play hooky from school. Not much happening here today. Should be nice with temps in the mid 60's.

Let's get going.

Word of the Day Thursday, October 23, 2014

exiguous \ ig-ZIG-yoo-uhs, ik-SIG- \, adjective;

1.scanty; meager; small; slender: exiguous income.

Origin:

Exiguous is related to the term exigent and comes from the Latin word exiguus meaning "scanty in measure or number."

Today is NATIONAL TV TALK SHOW HOST DAY

October 23 of each year is the day to pay tribute to, appreciate and thank all of the TV Talk Show hosts for the great job that they do; for all of their monologues, their jokes, their interviews, their stories, their entertainment and etc. It is the day that people across the country celebrate National TV Talk Show Host Day.

Each day we watch our favorite talk shows and we laugh, cry, listen, learn and etc. It is these great hosts that make the shows ones that we want to watch.

NATIONAL TV TALK SHOW HOST DAY HISTORY

National TV Talk Show Host Day, an “unofficial” national holiday, was chosen to be celebrated on “The King of Late Night Television”s birthday. John William “Johnny” Carson was born on October 23, 1925. Carson was host, for thirty years, of The Tonight Show (1962 – 1992).

NATIONAL BOSTON CREAM PIE DAY

October 23 annually celebrates a chocolate frosted, custard filled cake that is loved by millions across the country, it is National Boston Cream Pie Day.

Even though called a pie, Boston Cream Pie is actually a cake.

In 1856, at Boston’s Parker House Hotel, Armenian-French chef M. Sanzian created this pudding and cake combination which comprises two layers of sponge cake filled with vanilla flavored custard or creme patissiere. The cake is then topped with a chocolate glaze, such as a ganache or sometimes powdered sugar and a cherry.

In 1996, Massachusetts declared the Boston Cream Pie as their official dessert.

Celebrate National Boston Creme Pie Day with a slice of your homemade Boston Creme Pie which you made from one of the following “tried and true” recipes:

NATIONAL BOSTON CREAM PIE HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator of National Boston Cream Pie Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

National Mole Day

You may be thinking that this day is in honor of the little burrowing creature however, it is not. National Mole Day is celebrated by chemists and chemistry students each year on the 23rd of October,

Today’s celebration takes place between 6:02 AM and 6:02 PM, making the date 6:02 10/23 in the American style of writing dates. The time and date are derived from Avogadro’s number, which is approximately 6.02×1023, defining the number of particles (atoms or molecules) in one mole of substance, one of the seven base SI units.
◦Mole is a unit of measurement used in chemistry to express amounts of a chemical substance.
◦Avogadro’s number, is a historical term closely related to the Avogadro constant.
◦The Avogadro constant is named after the early 19th century Italian scientist Amedeo Avogadro.

HAPPY NATIONAL MOLE DAY.

NATIONAL MOLE DAY HISTORY

National Mole Day, an “unofficial” national holiday originated in the early 1980′s in an article in The Science Teacher. Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin High School chemistry teacher was inspired by the article and founded the National Mole Day Foundation on May 15, 1991.

Holy cow! What a game to go to.....Tee has to be smiling from ear to ear......lots of fun.....since the Guru mojo had a presence I had no doubt of the outcome.....very cool!

It rained an inch here yesterday and is cloudy and damp right now. That will put the skids to the harvest until things dry up....drove into Lincoln for Bible class and it rained the whole way....can't remember the last time that happened....

More floor work in the shop today as the work continues...its starting to look real spiffy.....IMO anyway....

Have a safe day Guru's.....

Mwommwaay llemaaeliyel!

Kind of dreary and drizzly now, but it's supposed to clear up later. We needed a little spritz of rain anyway. Just have to suffer through today and tomorrow, then it is kick back and relax time.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Except for the fall yard work, clearing the deck, those few nagging repairs you've been putting off, the honey-do list and ordering the parts you've been meaning to get. Oh ya, cleaning up the truck.

I have a new day and a fresh start. How come it doesn't feel fresh? Feels more like a continuation of yesterday. As Janis once said; "It's all the same f@(%ing day, man." No matter, the show must go on.

Good Morning CGs!

Have to finish up the brake job on BILs truck I started yesterday. Only got one side done, it was fighting me and I ran out of daylight. Maybe do some yard work today along with a workout.

Tommy - good luck with the gutter (although you should be a pro considering where your mind is usually at)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I am familiar with many of the players mentioned. Brings back some memories of the fast and furious 80's. One of the guys that works on my boat knew all the players. He built marine engines and was well known for his abilities. He had his engines in many a go fast boat. He's a quite a character and knows everybody and their stories. Glad Lanier got to see the light of day but as everybody knows "Marijuana is the match and heroin is the fire.". Miami was quite a wild place back in the day. Still is but it was larger than life in those days. It was like living on a Miami Vice set.

Miami Vice story. Sue was crazy about Don Johnson. He was at a car dealership doing an autograph session and Sue got to meet him. Later I asked her about him. Her response; "What an asshole!". lol

Well, sorry for not checking in earlier. I've been on cloud nine guys. The atmosphere at the game was electrifying. I've been to many Royals games before, but this was different than any game I've been to before. Once the game was over it took a while to get out of the stadium and back to the car. I told Rosie that we weren't going to get into a hurry and that paid off. Only had to sit in the car in line for about ten minutes.

We slept in some this morning and then chatted with #1 daughter before we got on the road. We are here at Rosie dad's place. He just got home from the hospital. We'll head home pretty soon.

Sitting in the car in the parking lot while Rosie is at a meeting. We haven't made it home yet as the meeting was in a town on the way home and we left FILs' house just in enough time to get her here on time.

It is a pretty evening, sitting in the car with the window down and doing my computer thing.

It will be a short week for me, tomorrow will feel both like Monday and Friday to me.

Excellent, Tom!

I'm pooped - just finished Chadwick-ing the truck and my wife's RDX, getting ready to take them up north where they will probably get all dirty. But they'll be shiny when they leave the driveway.
