Good Morning CGs!

Should be chilly here today. High of 51 compared to 79 on Monday!

Box never got here last night. My buddy ended up having three tows to do after work so it should get here tonight. Can't wait to fill it up. Then I have an excuse to buy more tools

Tommy - what was the end result from yesterday's police activity? Gonna make it to the gun shop today?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning gang.

It's Hump day. Looks like nice weather today. Sunny with highs in the 50's. Not much else happening.

Word of the Day Wednesday, October 29, 2014

chthonian \ THOH-nee-uhn \, adjective;

1.Classical Mythology . of or pertaining to the deities, spirits, and other beings dwelling under the earth.

Origin:

Chthonian entered English in the 1840s from the Greek word chthṓn meaning "earth."

Today is

NATIONAL CAT DAY

National Cat Day, an “unofficial” national holiday, is celebrated each year on October 29. This day is a holiday that is sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation and was created by Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige in 2005. Since its inception, it has helped save the lives of more than one million cats.

National Cat Day was founded to help the public recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued. The day also encourages cat lovers to celebrate the cats in their lives for the unconditional love and companionship that they bestow upon them.

Happy National Cat Day.

For more information, see http://www.nationalcatday.com/about.htm

NATIONAL OATMEAL DAY

One of America’s favorite breakfast foods is celebrated each year on October 29, National Oatmeal Day.

There are many health benefits to eating oatmeal.
◦A bowl of oatmeal daily can lower cholesterol
◦May reduce the risk of heart disease
◦May reduce your risk for cancer (according to the American Cancer Society, eating a diet high in fiber may help reduce your risk for caner)
◦Low in fat
◦Low in calories
◦Good source iron and fiber

Some of the favorite oatmeal toppings include: brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, nuts, granola and etc.

Oatmeal has a long tradition in the state of Vermont which originated with the Scottish settlement in the state. Although there were many variations, most of the oatmeal recipes began with steel cut oats. The oats were soaked overnight in cold water, salt and maple syrup. Early the next morning, the cook added ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon and if desired, ground ginger. The pot was then placed over heat and cooked for approximately 90 minutes and then they were served with cream, milk or butter.

Vermont leads the United States in per capita consumption of cooked oatmeal cereal.

The Quaker Man is one of the oldest advertising mascots in America. He was registered by the Quaker Oats company as the first trademark for a breakfast cereal in 1877.

NATIONAL OATMEAL DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator or origin of National Oatmeal Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL HERMIT DAY

National Hermit Day takes place annually on October 29..

This is a day to take some time to spend alone. It is time to step away from the hustle and bustle of your every day life and retreat to someplace quiet.

The word hermit comes from the Latin ĕrēmīta, meaning “of the desert”.

A hermit is a person who lives, to some degree, in seclusion from society.

To celebrate National Hermit Day, find a secluded place to go today and:

◦Turn off your phone
◦Turn off your computer
◦Let your worries be free
◦Rest and relax
◦Enjoy your quiet time
◦Read, write or draw
◦Short Nap

HAPPY NATIONAL HERMIT DAY

My mantra. I don't get to do it often enough. Matt, I have protection. I'm just thinking something a little smaller. Concealed weapons guys, tell me where you can't take a concealed weapon. I know I've read it but I keep forgetting. Is their a list? It doesn't really vary much from state to state, does it? I know there are many states I can carry that have reciprocal agreement. Some states are so liberal that Florida doesn't recognize their carry laws.

Matt, I won't know more till I get the juice from another source, like a next door neighbor or media outlet.

Brad, National Cat Day DOES NOT MEAN A PURGE.

In Florida

WHERE carry restrictions exist. Thought it might be helpful to post this here, even though we have (mostly) all seen it before.

Possession Restrictions
The following is a list of places where you are restricted from carrying a weapon or firearm even if you have a license. Please note that this is a simplified list. The places marked by an asterisk (*) may have exceptions or additional restrictions. See Section 790.06 (12), Florida Statutes for a complete listing.

any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05
any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station
any detention facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse
any courtroom*
any polling place
any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district
any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof
any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms
any school administration building
any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption*
any elementary or secondary school facility
any area technical center
any college or university facility*
inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport*
any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law

The first one states any place of public nuisance therefore at no time should a weapon be on your person while in this forum.

Stupid question here but... what is "place of nuisance" other than my office....
chilly here this morning, on the south end of town very heavy fog but clear on my north end. Not sure what happened over there. Highs this week will only hit a max of about 70. Quite a change from our summery upper 80s this past week.
What I wouldn't give to be at the beach somewhere.
Had a cop get ran over last night while directing traffic. The day before the city scored a HUGE pot bust, maybe someone though that was the one that took his weed or something.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

"It's places like drug houses, houses of prostitution, etc... there is some ambiguous language about morals in (FL)823.01 but it's the kinda places your momma would tell you to avoid.

ETA: if the activity there is illegal, stay away whether carrying or not."

Howdy! We're off shortly to go eat more, just what we need. Great whoopin' the Royals put on last night, hoping for more of the same tonight. Meanwhile, Halloween is right around the corner:

Filled an loaded 30 15 gallon buckets of soil, plants for tomorrows job and dug a 50 to 60' trench from the electric box to the pump pad. When I was finishing the trench I had a childhood flashback of the old saying "You better get a good education if you don't want to end up digging ditches.". What's that tell you? The crew is booked solid for the next three weeks so if I don't do it, it won't get done. Now I'm off to fill up my S-10 with buckets of dirt and mulch for around the house. Cruise starts in just over 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to it but till then I don't think I'll be seeing any nap time.

For a shallow 60' run call me the Ditch Witch or the SOB. I got a workout today. After digging the ditch I planted two trees. After the first 4" it was solid limestone. Tons of fun in the sun. Planted a Chocolate Sapote and a tangerine tree. My neighbor stopped by and told me it looked like we are building our own paradise. See, someone gets it.
