Good morning gang.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. It's warm here this morning temps in the mid 50's with rain. The temps will fall all day. A little windy this morning and should be that way most of the day.

Let's get going.

Word of the Day Monday, November 24, 2014

gaslight \ GAS-lahyt \ , verb;

1. to cause (a person) to doubt his or her sanity through the use of psychological manipulation: How do you know if your partner is gaslighting you?

noun:

1. light produced by the combustion of illuminating gas.

2. a gas burner or gas jet for producing this kind of light.

adjective:

1. gaslit ( def 2 ).

Origin:

Gaslight comes from a 1944 film of the same name in which a husband secretely and repeatedly dims and brightens the gaslights in the house while accusing his wife of imaginging the flickering. This movie was based on a play by Patrick Hamilton. The verb entered English in the mid-1900s.

Today is NATIONAL SARDINES DAY

They might be packed with water, oil, tomato sauce or even mustard but they have been cleaned and cooked and are packed in an airtight container and ready for you to eat. Some people are afraid to even taste these small and silver fish but sardines have a delicious taste that is loved by millions across the United States. This is their special day and they are celebrated each year on November 24 on National Sardines Day.

Sardines are several types of small, oily fish, related to herrings.

Actually a common type of fish consumed by millions of people, sardines are rich in nutrients.

Most commonly served in cans, fresh sardine are also often grilled, pickled or smoked.

Sardines are packed in either water, olive, sunflower or soybean oil or in a tomato, chili or mustard sauce.

The term sardine was first used in English during the beginning of the 15th century, possibly coming from the Mediterranean island of Sardinia where there was an abundance of sardines.

Sardine oil is used in the manufacturing of paint, varnish and linoleum.

Sardines are a great source of vitamins and minerals.
From one’s daily vitamin allowance containing:
◦13 % B2
◦.25 % niacin
◦150% vitamin B12
◦phosphorus
◦calcium
◦potassium
◦iron
◦selenium
◦omega-3fatty acids
◦vitamin D
◦protein

- B vitamins are important in helping to support proper nervous system function and are used for energy metabolism.
- Omega 3 fatty acids reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular disease and regular consumption may reduce the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease and can even boost brain function as well as help lower blood sugar levels.

Relative to other fish commonly eaten by humans, sardines are very low in contaminants, such as mercury.

The sardine canning industry peaked in the United States in the 1950′s. After the industry’s peak, it has been on the decline. The Stinson Seafood plant in Prospect Harbor, Maine, which was the last large sardine cannery in the United States, closed its doors on April 15, 2010 after 135 years in operation.

To celebrate National Sardines Day, share a can, or two of canned sardines with a friend. See if you prefer the mustard, chili or the tomato packed ones better! Happy National Sardines Day!

NATIONAL SARDINES DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator of National Sardines Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

Good Morning CGs!

Well I am happy to get up and start the day. Know why? I have a nice 5 day staycation for the holiday. We have family coming in from all over so I wanted some extra time to spend with them. Should be nice.

Yesterday I took the Audi to the car wash that is run by some friends of mine to get detailed. It's a good idea to get a coat of wax on before the winter season hits with all of the salt, etc. I just wanted a basic little detail but they went above and beyond what I expected and the car turned out great. It is cleaner that the day I bought it. Of course it rained while driving it home, but I parked it in the garage and wiped it down and it's still looking nice and shiny. Almost don't want to drive it now for fear of getting it dirty

Welcome back, Tommy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Madainn mhath!

The warm spell is over, had a coating of snow overnight and now it's windy. And by Thanksgiving we'll have highs in the teens. Today I have 6 hours of meetings, so that should be delightful. About as delightful as a proctologist's exam.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Works of art. I notice that there is a center gap difference in doors. Also the knots are not plumb.

Good afternoon.
Just got back from having chunks of flesh removed from above my left eye. It's sutured, bandaged and now I'm back home. I have to go pick up a few packages from the post office and get back home before my forehead swells to resemble a lime implant. Ice on, ice off today. A break from showers for a few days. The good news is I can have no strenuous activities for a few days. That doesn't stop me from making a morning delivery tomorrow though. Back to the grind so to speak. I see a few naps in my future.

Over 2" of rain here yesterday, good thing the Falcons/Cleveland game was in a dome stadium. With the handicap pass we parked within 50' of the stadium elevator.
My son was pushing me in a wheelchair, so my only problem was the stairs to our seats. It was a darn good game.

74* outside right now, but with a cold front coming in that will change (for the worse) very quickly,

I'm sure there is SOMEBODY here that can drop this chat to a sophomoric level at the drop of a post. Had a fun time while away. I always enjoy a great escape. Slots could have been a little kinder though. Had some nice hits along the way that kept my betting afloat. In the end I sacrificed my gambling budget. Not complaining though. What I bring is what I can afford to spend. It's in the budget. Not everybody can finance the rebuilding of a Corvette not to forget all the free beer that comes with the button pushing.

Geez what a day... way too much to do at the shop - then he had his son's 2015 F250 four door big ass truck there, needed took to my other job's shop for tint and stuff - I ain't driving that thing. Hell no, so he did and I followed and brought him back. I'll add some graphic stuff to it later he wants. Then we had stuff we're working on to do to get back to, then I had office stuff, then his wife was sick so she stayed home but then thought she wanted to come sit there and stare at us all day cause she as bored. Then mentioned she still had fever. Geez - I went next door to the other shop and started clean up stuff over there where the '65 restoration was going on - the LAST thing I need is to be sick with crap. Put a bumper together for a GMC truck, and got a spoiler ready for paint, then I was bout done for the day. And this is only Monday???
Nice cabinets there.. I need some of those for my back bedroom...
