Good morning gang.

Looks like a damp day here today with temps in the 50's.

Word of the Day Monday, December 15, 2014

thalassic \ thuh-LAS-ik \, adjective;

1. of or pertaining to seas and oceans.

2. of or pertaining to smaller bodies of water, as seas and gulfs, as distinguished from large oceanic bodies.

3. growing, living, or found in the sea; marine.

Origin:

Thalassic came to English in the mid-1800s from the Greek thálassa meaning "sea."

Today is NATIONAL LEMON CUPCAKE DAY

Celebrated annually on December 15th, National Lemon Cupcake Day is for those who enjoy this refreshing baked item.

The first mention of the cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796, when a recipe notation of “a cake to be baked in small cups” was written in American Cookery by Amelia Simmons. The earliest documentation of the term cupcake was in “Seventy-five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats” in 1828 in Eliza Leslie’s Receipts cookbook.

Here is a great recipe for Lemon Cupcakes – http://thestir.cafemom.com/food_party ... best_lemon_cupcake_recipe

Our research did not find the “origin” of National Lemon Cupcake Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

Üvä oomni!

Foggy and warm (relatively speaking, that is) here. All that's left of the snow are a few piles of snirt. A few golf courses opened for yesterday and today. That'll come to a screeching halt tomorrow. My clubs are hibernating in the shed, anyway.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Morning guys...finals week. a little clean-up before finals. Finishing up some projects (the middle schoolers). High schoolers are being freaking lazy. MS b-ball here today and HS tomorrow to finish off the before Christmas portion of the season.

The snow they were saying we were going to get never materialized. Sun is shining right now, but it's cold and the wind is blowing.

I'd better go prod the boys.......

Third trip to the courthouse records section to secure yet another document. PIA. Went with Sue to a couple of job sites for estimates. Picked up a mini pig that we're pig sitting till Christmas Eve. Little thing of 9 months old and 18 lbs. soaking wet. It's going to a local family that just had to have one. Close to 04:00 and I have done absolutely nothing on my list. My guess is I won't get to any of it either for the rest of the day. A nap isn't on my list so I guess that would be OK. Seems like the right thing to do.
