Good Morning CGs!

Well RR#1 is finally over the flu that has had her down for the past couple days. She missed two days of school over it. Back today at least so she can get some edumakation.

Back to work for me as well, I took a couple of vacation days and was home with her while she was sick. I seemed to be run down a bit the other day as well but feeling fine now.

Not much else to report.

Mike - hope all is well with the family, was everyone involved ok?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Kakedo abayanapi ne!

Happy Friday! Looking forward to the days starting to get longer soon - it is friggin' dark in the morning. Gonna kick it in gear and get this work day over with.

Glad to hear your young'n is feeling better, Matt - a lot of crud has been going around. So far our household has avoided it.

Up and at 'em, Gurus!

Morning guys....first final of the day already going. It's cold again, but no wind. Computer work is dragging me down. I've got three at home needing work and a service call to one of the businesses I help out, to do.

Good morning gang.

My day off felt good to sleep in.

Cold here today but sunny out.

Youngest is ok. He has a separated shoulder bruised ribs and generally just sore. From what we got from him is there was a car in front of him and a car opened their door into traffic. So he basically rear ended the car in front of him when they both tried to stop. Now I am going to draw the conclusion that he got hit from behind too but I will get more details over the weekend.

Thanks for the mojo guys.

On with today.

Word of the Day Friday, December 19, 2014

mysophobia \ mahy-suh-FOH-bee-uh \, noun;

1.Psychiatry. a dread of dirt or filth.

Origin:

Mysophobia is a New Latin term from the late 1800s based on the Greek mýsos meaning "filth" and phobos meaning "fear."

Today is NATIONAL HARD CANDY DAY

A favorite of young and old alike, National Hard Candy Day is celebrated annually on December 19.

Hard candy became popular in the seventeenth century as sugar prices dropped. Previously, hard candy was something that only the well-to-do could afford. By the mid-1800s, over 400 companies were manufacturing this popular treat.

In 2013, Werther’s Original was the best selling hard candy follow closely by Jolly Rancher. Other popular hard candies include Dum Dum Pops, Life Savers, Tootsie Roll Pops and Charms Blow Pop.

NATIONAL OATMEAL MUFFIN DAY

National Oatmeal Muffin Day is celebrated annually December 19th.

Known for it’s healthful benefits, millions of people start each day with an Oatmeal Muffin.

The American muffin is similar in size and shape to a cupcake. Recipes for Oatmeal Muffins began to appear in American cookbooks in the mid-1800s. Oatmeal Muffins are often complimented by raisins, bananas, blueberries and other healthy fruits.

NATIONAL UNDERDOG DAY

National Underdog Day is observed annually on the third Friday in December.

America loves underdogs. In sports, people tend to rally around the person or team that is not favored to win.

According to Wikipedia, an “underdog” is a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is an upset. An “underdog bet” is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

The first recorded uses of the term occurred in the second half of the nineteenth century; its first meaning was “the beaten dog in a fight”.

National Underdog Day was first observed in 1976.

Mike, glad he's not hurt any worse than he was. Sometimes it takes a while to decipher things and figure out what really happened.

Last final of the semester going on right now. The ones earlier struggled a bit, but finished and nobody failed. Hopefully this one will be the same, but I'm not holding my breath on this class.

HEY MIKE, GLAD THE BOY'S OK. GOOD THING KIDS ARE TOUGH.

JUST BACK FROM THE LATEST FUNERAL, OUT IN WESTERN OK. DARLING WIFE'S AUNT, 90 YO. SHE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE IN-LAWS. ON THE WAY BACK WE STOPPED IN OKC TO SEE WIFE'S UNCLE IN CARDIAC CARE. HIS FUTURE LOOKS GRIM. HE IS ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITES. BEEN A TOUGH WEEK FOR DARLING WIFE.

ANOTHER OLD FUNNY:

Their three kids, all successful, agreed to a Sunday dinner in their honor.

"Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad," gushed Son No. 1.
'Sorry I'm running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with a
patient, you know how it is, and I didn't have time to get you a gift."

"Not to worry," said the father.
"Important thing is we're all together today."

Son No. 2 arrived. "You and Mom look great, Dad.
I just flew in from LA between depositions & didn't have time to shop
for you."

"It's nothing," said the father.
"We're glad you were able to come."

Just then the daughter arrived.
"Hello and happy anniversary! Sorry, but my boss is sending me out of
town & I was really busy packing so I didn't have time to get you anything."

After they had finished dessert, the father said,
"There's something your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long
time.
"You see, we were really poor, but we managed to send each of you to
college.
Through the years your mother and I knew we loved each other very much,
but we just never found the time to get married."

The three children gasped and said,
"WHAT? You mean we're bastards?"

"Yep", said the father,
"Cheap ones too..."

Well, I just got in from that service call, what a PITA. And I never got it going. They had the local ISP people in to install a new router. They (the installation guy) couldn't get one wireless printer to work, so I get called in to see if I could get it to work. I've gotten it to work when there were problems before......not this time. I can't figure out what's going on. I got the one printer (wireless) setup and going, but the second one is being a turd. 3 freaking hours. I have some research to do.
