It's early morning 1:30 and I'm starting the chat. We just got home from our ball game. it was semi-bittersweet. Our girls lost to a pretty impressive team by 31 points. But our boys won! Back and forth through most of the game. With 3.2 seconds we have the ball and a two point deficit. We are in a inbounds play pattern, and for some reason the guy from the opposing team slaps the ball out of the hands of our inbound passer. TECHNICAL FOUL! Their coach argues, but that's the rules. Our boy sinks both freethrows amd we get the ball. The play doesn't go where it is designed to go, they throw it in to my grandson, who has an open shot, but it's 28' out. It bounces off the rim, just missing. We go into overtime and our boys drain a three and come back down after stopping them and drain a deuce. That makes them have to foul and we put 6 of 8 free throws down in those last 90 seconds to pull out the win.

We advance to play Friday night. The season continues at least one more game!

Good morning gang.

Congrats to the GS Tom. Hope the girls have a better season next yr.

It's 23* out and starting to rain which of course will freeze making the drive to work and adventure. The good news is it is suppose to warm up to the mid to upper 30's.

Word of the day is variorum.

Today is NATIONAL ANTHEM DAY

Written by Francis Scott Key, the Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States of America. On National Anthem Day, we celebrate and honor this song.

By a congressional resolution, signed by President Herbert Hoover, The Star Spangled Banner officially became the national anthem of the United States of America on March 3rd, 1931.

The Star Spangled Banner was written during the War of 1812. After watching the bombardment of Fort McHenry from a ship, the next morning seeing the American flag still flying over the Fort, Francis Scott Key was inspired that on September 14, 1814, he wrote what is now our national anthem.

In September of 1914, during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812, while being held on a ship, Francis Scott Key witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry . The following morning, upon seeing the American flag still flying over the Fort, he was inspired to write a poem, which was titled, “Defence of Fort M’Henry”. This poem was later set to music and renamed “The Star Spangled Banner”.

NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY – IHOP

IHOP restaurants began National Pancake Day in 2006. Since that day, they have raised $16 million for charities. On March 3rd, 2015 people from around the country will once again celebrate National Pancake Day at IHOP restaurants and enjoy free pancakes. Guests are asked to consider leaving a donation.

For more information regarding IHOP’s free breakfast and the 2015 designated charities for National Pancake Day at IHOP, please see:

http://www.ihoppancakeday.com/pancake-day-details.html

NATIONAL I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY DAY

Celebrated annually on March 3rd is National I Want You To Be Happy Day. This day was created as a day that encourages us to do something to make others happy.

Share a smile, share a laugh, pay a compliment, buy someone’s coffee, send some flowers, take someone to lunch, make cookies for a neighbor, play games with the kids, take the family to the park, visit a friend or maybe make a phone call. These are just a few of the many things that can be done to brighten up the day for someone. It can actually be as simple as just telling someone that you want them to be happy.

Have a good day and, we want you to be happy!

NATIONAL I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY DAY HISTORY

Our research was unable to find the creator or the origin of National I Want You To Be Happy Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL COLD CUTS DAY

March 3rd celebrates a food holiday, National Cold Cuts Day. A popular sandwich filling, of a variety of sliced, precooked meats, that can be purchased at the deli counter or from vacuumed sealed packages.

Cold cuts are also referred to as lunch meats, luncheon meats, sandwich meats, sliced meats, cold meats and deli meats.

One that we all remember from our childhood days, is from the television commercial: b – o – l – o – g – n – a.

A few of the favorites at deli counters are pastrami, roast beef, turkey and ham. Cold cuts are well known on the submarine sandwich and have become popular in many appetizer recipes.

Enjoy the following “tried and true” recipes:

You may want to celebrate National Cold Cuts Day by visiting a local deli near you.

NATIONAL COLD CUTS DAY HISTORY

We were unable to find the creator or the origin of National Cold Cuts Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL MULLED WINE DAY

National Mulled Wine Day is celebrated annually on March 3rd.

It is the day, for those 21 years and older, to warm up from the winter chill with a nice glass of mulled wine. Mulled wine is a beverage usually made with red wine along with various spices and raisins. It is served, and enjoyed, hot or warm.

There are various recipe combinations for making Mulled Wine.

* Wine was first recorded as spiced and heated in First Century Rome*

Mulled spirits (that is, wine and liquors that are heated and spiced) have long been considered a balm against illness in the winter months.

Have a Happy Mulled Wine Day!

NATIONAL MULLED WINE DAY HISTORY

After much research, we were unable to find the creator and the origin of Mulled Wine Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

Good Morning CGs!

Sounds like an exciting game, TB.

Not much to report here. Got some snow last night but should warm up later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hidey-ho! I'm working from home today - supposedly we'll have blizzard-like conditions later, according to the weather geniuses. It'll probably turn out to be nothing, but at least it'll be a nice, peaceful day with minimal interruptions.

Exciting game indeed, Tom!

Have a good day, yawlz!

Well, I'm up. I have a feeling that my butt will be dragging all day. So sorry about Precious, Tommy.

I could probably get into most of the "Days" of today. A few pancakes for breakfast, some coldcuts for lunch, and some wine for supper.......yea, I'm happy.

I love a good pancake and the ones at IHOP are the best.....when on vacation we always hunt one up and then eat there with reckless abandon......because its vacation......

Big day yesterday with a lot of work involved......didn't even have time to post...

Its March and the 2015 Ag campaign has started......and won't slow up for us until September.....

Those games are a lot of fun Tom.....more fun when they win but still exciting...

Gotta go...have a great day Guru's........

CLOUDY AND MISTING RAIN IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING WITH MORE NASTY STUFF PREDICTED FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW. OH SPRING TIME, WHERE ARE YOU?

I’M SO GLAD; THE ASSOCIATED PREVARICATORS HAS EXPLAINED THAT THE ISLAMIC STATE REALLY ISN’T VERY ISLAMIC AT ALL. THEY CAN BE SURE BECAUSE THE PROFIT MOBAMA TOLD THEM SO.
(“WHO ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE, ME OR YOUR EYES?”)

MEANWHILE THE STATE DEPARTMENT SUGGESTS THAT THE JEWS ARE CAUSING ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
AND THAT’S THE WAY THINGS ARE ON PLANET WASHINGTON D.C.

So sorry to hear that, her name does look fitting. But when you're sad, just remember, it's 75 and sunny up there, with yellow grass and beaches in all directions, and the whole place smells like dog butt.

MEMORIES: IRISHMAN'S FIRST DRINK WITH HIS SON.

While reading an article last night about fathers and
sons, memories came flooding back to the time I took me son out for his first pint.

Off we went to our local pub only two blocks from the cottage.
I got him a Guinness. He didn't like it, so I drank it.
Then I got him a Kilkenny's, he didn't like that either, so I drank it.
Finally, I thought he might like some Harp Lager?. He didn't. I drank it.

I thought maybe he'd like whiskey better than beer so we tried a Jameson's, nope!
In desperation, I had him try that rare Redbreast, Ireland's finest. He wouldn't even smell it.
What could I do but drink it?

By the time I realized he just didn't like to drink I was so shit-faced I could hardly push his stroller back home.
