... Louis turned over 30,000 miles today.

Now six months out of warranty, but still absolutely solid. Ivelis somehow kills seatbelt ratchets, so the driver's side has been scheduled for a fix. Otherwise, just routine maintenance.

Still fast, still a little loud, still gets a lot of looks.

Of course, we'll add 6,000 miles to that total within the next month ...

I've doubled the mileage the previous owner put on it, and he had it almost two years, I've had it since September. On the way home yesterday we almost turned it over to 36K. I love rowing through the gears.

My coworker is getting fed up with his 09(?) Apparently he has an extended warranty and takes it in often for b.s. stuff but feels lost on what to do once it's on his dime. I'll stay tuned.

Interesting. We are not seeing the niggling things, but our car is three years newer. I also think we do benefit somewhat from being so late in the generational life cycle - both Grace (2nd to last year of the C5) and Louis (2nd to last year of the C6) have been quite reliable; almost all of the issues have been our fault ...

And your 85.... I find most of it is a matter of adjusting your standards to the car. It's a reason BMW and Cadillac fail their owner surveys after the first year, vs Hyundai where every owner is just beeming that the engine hasn't blown up yet.

Very true. When something breaks on the 1985, we're inconvenienced, but I accept it - I'm the fourth owner, the car is thirty years old, etc. When something on the 2003 breaks, even a minor thing, I am livid: I look at the car and think "how could you do this to me? You have wanted for nothing from the day you were picked up at the Corvette Museum. We built a garage for you, wrote a book about you, give you only the best fuel and fluids, hold birthday parties for you" ... etc., etc., etc.
