don'[t seem like any big deal really but dug this out on an 08 I was looking at. Car is everything I'm looking for. They aren't gonna be perfect when they're older I know, especially in my $$ range. Car lists on carfax as a"corporate vehicle"... and comes up as clean

I read it and can only guess. Sorry, I don't like to guess on important purchases. You'll have to wait for an insiders view.

Service records.

Branded title is if it was a salvage, etc, so that's a clear title.

Corporate = rental, doesn't it?

I was looking at a used car a few years back and that was on the carfax if I recall. I asked the dealer and he fessed up that it was.

Painful to read all that without formatting but if it's all logged it must mean it was all done at dealer. My car only shows smogs on its history. I had to provide proof of mileage with service invoices to my insurance company and I had to convince them it has no invoices, lol.

not necessarily. It could have been any kind of fleet vehicle... even an execs car, where a corporate client buys up a number of Vette's for their VP types.

I don't think it was a rental... I am guessing a lease... check the entry in bold.

Where is this car, Letty? Is it at a dealer? Private sale? Can you show us the rest of the report?

What are they asking for it?

The car was in Texas to start with, then when I wanted it, it sold. Now it's landed in Flintville, TN - I have an uncle that lives there, we no longer speak or I'd have him go look at it for me. I did get hold of a car lot manager friend - used to run a Chevy dealership prior. he says those things are often purchased by companies and given to thier higher ups to drive - probably some old man or someone they trusted with such a vehicle. Says the things I'm seeing listed are probably nitpicky stuff and they will have it all done at a dealer. They're asking dead on clean retail for the car - I plan to have him call and see what he can get them down to for me. I don't like doing car deals - I hate that shit. Car is loaded - 4LT interior, HUD, NAV the whole bit and black, pretty wheels, etc . I wanted a vert but I do like this one. high miles, but that's not an issue for me if it's taken care of and the price is right. he's aksing 23,9

what is high miles?

In this modern world, 10k a year isn't fatal on a Vette... so if it has 70k, who cares. Even 100k, it's still going to go on. And 2008 has the new 6spd automatic! It has to be better than the old 4spd POS...

showing 102k
I'm good with that if it's been taken care of. Consider
my 87 when I sold it had 158k
My 96 had 248 k and I just passed it on the road Saturday
My 02 when I totaled it had 121K ....
a 2008 with 102 is averaging just under 15k a year
far less that I used to put on one - he's asking dead on with KBB and NADA but I'm having Jeff go back adn forth with him now and see where we can get this thing to. If it's in good shape and I can get it for what I want it for then I'll be real interested. I have a limited budget. I wanted a convertible but this one I liked.

Jeff's telling me with it being a corporate ride that the list I see is probably a bunch of nitpicky crap and it went to the dealer for everything. I saw this car a bit back and it got away, then I saw it again closer to home just went from dealer to dealer.

Yea, your average spoiled executive won't put up with basic crap not looking good. Car might have been driven, but it was pampered.

And 15k a year is near average mileage... 12k I think is considered "average".

Mine was a lease way back when but it was written differently, and obvious. But that was way back when. I don't have the record handy.

But I can't help but wonder how much it would cost to drive a vette for 10 years if you brought it to the dealer for every single squeak and rattle and paid full dealer markup. Or any car for that matter.

$500 doc fee is their fee for doing tags and title and crap. It's also a way of playing with profit margins.

About 20 years ago, my niece needed a car. She found a pretty basic Nissan Sentra at a lot in Orlando.

My sister-in-law, her Mom, spent several days working them over on the price. Basically, fiddling over a couple hundred bucks.

They reach a deal and head up to get it, and guess what! They got the price they wanted, but the doc fees went up, absorbing the price drop!

Sneaky bastards.

But the deal was still good... so they ended up getting it. The dealer still won... but not before I got my digs in... told the sales manager that was down right low... snake like low.

Well, that one is out but not cause it sold. It might have...but, Friday night at the shop we sat there drinking beer and looked at one I'd seen online earlier in the day. I pulled one of my usual "fly by the seat of the pants maneuvers" and headed out to Kansas City early Saturday - drove home a 2012 Grand Sport Centennial Edition.....
The "centennial edition" part was a surprise - didn't realize what it was till got home with it earlier today....it's not perfect and needs a couple things but I like it.
