Good morning, all!

A little warmer in the Philadelphia area today, heading up into the mid-eighties. We're heading out in a little while to a Memorial Day parade a couple of miles down the Lincoln Highway. Afterwards, over to my parent's house for the traditional post-parade lunch—it's the one chance a year I get to see my father in his "choker" dress white uniform.

It is a perfect day for all the symbolism behind a red Corvette convertible. Luckily, my wife reminds me that we have one ...

Happy Memorial Day Guru's.......The sun is shining but I don't know for how long.....did some mowing yesterday with the idea that today I would finish up...may plant the garden finally also......we haven't had the time or the weather to get it done......

If any of you have Netflicks there is a show called Longmire, which is about a modern day Sheriff out in Wyoming. We really like it, it depicts that part of the Country just like it is. Even though its filmed in New Mexico...... I give it a Guru

Have a nice day off Guru's......

SEMI-SUNNY THIS MORNING, NO RAIN LAST NIGHT, MAY BE MORE THIS AFTERNOON. OUR ROAD OUT TO THE HIGHWAY IS WASHED BADLY. TRUCK AND SUV WORTHY, I WOULDN'T WANT TO TRY TO DRIVE MY VETTES OUT. COUNTY GRADER WILL HAVE SOME WORK TO DO.

NOT A GOOD DAY TO GO TO THE LAKE AND THE ILLINOIS RIVER REC AREA IS CLOSED TO FLOATING.

FREEDOM:
Dusty old helmet, rusty old gun,
They sit in the corner and wait -
Two souvenirs of the Second World War
That have withstood the time, and the hate.

Mute witness to a time of much trouble.
Where kill or be killed was the law -
Were these implements used with high honor?
What was the glory they saw?

Many times I've wanted to ask them -
And now that we're here all alone,
Relics all three of a long ago war -
Where has freedom gone?

Freedom flies in your heart like an eagle.
Let it soar with the winds high above
Among the spirits of soldiers now sleeping,
Guard it with care and with love.

I salute my old friends in the corner,
I agree with all they have said -
And if the moment of truth comes tomorrow,
I'll be free, or By God, I'll be dead!

Happy Memorial Day, Gurus! We have a little break in the rain at the moment, but I am fairly certain it won't last. A good day to reflect on those who gave their all for us.

Have a good day, everyone!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy Memorial Day everyone. Tried to do a little work in the yard but the skies opened up. Had to take a break and I'm letting things dry out. I'll try to get a workout in instead and finish the garden later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

It actually dried out enough here to take a few laps around the estate with the mower, too - glad I got that out of the way.

Saw a story about these guys on the news, made me smile:

Hey guys...Got up and around today. Cloudy, cool and drippy. Got the grands up and around, packed up and headed home. 3 of the 4 all wanted to ride with grandpa, in the Corvette. So we had to take turns. The stops made the trip longer than normal, but it was fun, for them and me.

We stopped in the "city" to pick up some milk and a couple other things for the week. I pulled up and parked in a stall that was kind of isolated. About the time I got out an SUV pulls up next to me and stops. I look over and it's a couple, probably in their 70's, they drop their window down and tell me they used to have a "Copper 87 coupe" and they wanted to know what year mine was and what was the "official color". I chatted with them for a while and thanked them for their kindnesses and words.

Once home we unloaded both cars and grandma took the kids to the pool for them to swim. The sun had popped through about 3 miles east of us and the temps went up quite a bit. Me, I stayed home and washed the filthy Corvette. While washing away on it the new neighbor (we hadn't met, I just recognized him going in and out of the house) from two houses down, drove past, stopped and backup up. He introduced himself, his wife and son, and then proceeded to tell me his dad has a Spiral Gray 04 coupe, how he sold Chevys and how he had sold an 08 Z06 to a guy......and then tells me how nice my car is. And asks, "What is the name of that color? It sure is pretty."

Just made my day.

Dark Copper Metallic was a very rare color—only 87 made in 1987, with only 4 in 1986, and only pilot vehicles in 1988.

Your car does look great; get used to the compliments!
