... he made a ton of money selling Corvettes in Canal Winchester, Ohio, but I know personally that he was also an endless supporter of the hobby itself. One small example of many: while on a NCRS national road tour about seven years, we made a scheduled stop to see his extensive collection of Corvettes, other cars (especially pace cars), and memorabilia. I'm a very fast museum viewer, so I spent some time standing around talking to a couple of his mechanics. It turned that Bob had "all hands on deck" in case any of our cars had issues (a few did) and had even asked a few of his retired mechanics to stop because they were likely to know the solid axles, mid-years, and sharks better. Problems did get fixed and various folks on our tour tried to pay for the aid—we were told "the boss is covering it." RIP |

Wow! great story.
Sorry to hear Bob passed. I did a phone interview with him for Corvette Fever a few years back - the article was never printed... He was a really nice, but quiet person. That story seems to fit him well. |
