Good Morning CGs!

Been busy the past few days. I spent yesterday morning at my buddy's shop so I could rebuild the power steering pump. Got it all together and I think I should be good to go. The old seals were pretty hard, clearly the leak and what took the bearing out. I hope to get that installed this week.

After the rebuild I picked up RR#1 at school and then we headed over to RR#2's preschool for his "graduation". He tested into the early kindergarten program (because of his late bday) so that will keep up from basically holding him back a year. We are excited about that.

After the preschool graduation I went and finished the garden timbers. Hard to see from the photos but it is three rows of timbers. I dug down about 5 inches, small sand base to level, then lay the timbers, stake the two bottom rows with rebar, then the top row with 10" galvanized spikes. I just have to finished backfilling and replacing the grass. Wife is happy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Morning guys...didn't have to get up this morning, but did because wifey did and I don't like to make the bed by myself. Working on plans for some kitchen cabinets. Last night I replaced the touchscreen on an Iphone 6 for one of my students. What a PITA, Iphone 5's are much easier to do. Today I'll go out to the shop and continue putting stuff away.

More rain last evening/night and more expected today.

Matt, a simple garden is how it all begins. It is a consuming interest much like tool accumulation. Next thing you know you're a 59 y/o man, (soon to be 60), working on the cars, the house, the garden, the pond, the yard and helping friends and family members when they call for help. Your kids are still looking to you for guidance and assistance and your wife continues to fill your ears with words though now you're hearing impaired and only hear every other word. One bonus is you get to wear shirts like the one below.

Unless you're BillH. Then you forgo the landscaping. Work on cars, go to the casino, go to the track, go to the studio, go help a friend, let the birds fill your hearing aid with chatter and turn on the swamp cooler. He still gets to wear the shirt.

Mɛr ɛgo!

Thursday already - hard to believe. Busy, busy, busy. I did manage to slather some Chadwick's on the Vette last night and drove it today, since it isn't supposed to rain until tonight.

Looks good, Matt - I'll be happy to take your extra tomatoes and cucumbers ;-)

Have a good day, all!

THUNDER & RAIN AGAIN, NEVER KNEW A SWAMP COULD FILL UP AND RUN OVER :-0

YESTERDAY TURNED OUT TO BE PRETTY NICE; IT WAS SUNNY ALL DAY. THE COUNTY BLADE MAN CAME AROUND AND DRESSED OUR WASHED OUT ROAD AS BEST HE COULD WHILE STILL SO WET. THE COUNTY COMMISSIONER TAKES PRETTY GOOD CARE OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD; I KEEP WONDERING IF HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND OUT HERE ;-)

....I am going to switch back to my stock air filter set up on the GS. Called the local dealership and they are $120 bucks with sales tax.....yikes! Went to my Amazon Prime account and it was $53 bucks for an OEM AC Delco A3077c direct replacement. That's 67 bucks and no shipping....

Memo to self.....call stock broker...buy Amazon.....

Letty....you ought to see when your air filter was changed last.....and what about the fluids? Did the PO have it serviced according to the mileage? Tranny and brake fluid would be what I would be wondering about......

Don't forget the blinker fluid, change the air in the tires (it's probably stale) and a horn tune up.

From what I've seen has had regular service, looked at fluids before I took off with it. Person I've been spending time with lately happens to be a GM mechanic anyway and did all my stuff prior, soooooo..... when things settle will see about what it might take to have him go through things. :D

Talked to the roofing company yesterday about the rental's issues. They're pulling a maintenance permit for the roof. Gonna replace a couple of facia boards, some drip edge and sealcoat the roof for $2600. They will give us a 5 year warranty on the work and on a no leak roof. It wasn't leaking as it was. That should appease the insurance company. The buyer is splitting the cost with us. Let's see if that will get us to the closing table. I sure hope so. Could I have done that myself? Probably. Would I have done that myself? Not in this case. I want to have it done right and have a paper trail to present to the insurance company and the financing bank.

Or you could just shorten it and say DNBFS.

Getting ready to cut the grass here at home. While I was picking up hazards (bones and balls) in the front yard I took a quick look at the butterflies flittering around. 5 different varieties. Cool. There might actually be a couple of more types if I looked hard enough. We have plants to attract birds an butterflies. It's nice to see the payoff.

I was just going to see if the mileage improved some. I'm only getting around 22 mpg on the highway and it should be more than that.....also reading threads on other places that state the stock LS3 units are the same as the LS7 and LS9's and they have to flow a bunch to keep up on that H.P.

Also there is this appendage on the side of the stock air filter that I don't like the looks of but seems to smooth out the pulses coming out of the plenum or some voodoo engineering stuff like that......

....but mostly its the mileage issue.......this Corsa unit never has got as good of mileage since I put it on.....so maybe GM knows what they are doing.....geez who knew...?

I just went to a pair "Green" filters in place of the stock paper ones, in the stock housing.

I hear the green ones are a good filter.....there seems to be some umbrage with the foam filters letting to much garbage thru if not oiled right.....or over oiled and messing up the MAF.....always something....

Will be headed to KC in the morning. Not only that, but, my grandson is moving to Dallas tomorrow. Big thing for him, he's planning on going to school there and his GF will live with her mom. He brought his car over this evening and we did some things to it, check oil, trans, brake fluid, tires and cleaned it up a little. I tried to tell him he has to take care of the car now. Grandma is getting misty-eyed already. We have agreed to bring a load of stuff down later to help get him setup.
