Good Morning CGs!

Well, the party was a success. Everyone showed up except one couple and their son/daughter. So lots of people, lots of food, lots of presents. It's staggering the amount of gifts this child received. I remember as a kid, a party was in your backyard and consisted of pizza, a homemade cake, a cloth over the picnic table, and maybe a pinata if you were lucky. And every child brought one $15 toy. Not anymore. Not saying that doesn't happen, just not in our house. This party was mild, cost a little over $400 in food, cake, accessories, and bouncer. Food was mini sandwiches, popcorn chicken, a full tray of fried chicken, pizza, Italian beef, Italian sausages, mostaccioli, 3 salads, and miscellaneous snacks. That doesn't include beer, liquor, and soda, so about another $100 there. But most of my family/friends will spend between $40-75 on gifts. Grandparents usually $100. I certainly don't agree with it, but I can't change it. I find is absurd, really. Every year we say no toys, but we end up with a ton of toys. How many ninja turtle/superhero toys can you really play with? Some things will get hidden away for later, duplicates or unnecessary toys will get returned. So am I complaining that my family does these things? No. I'm more complaining about the system in general. Rant over.

(Look up and make sure that I posted that instead of Tommy. Yup, apparently I've been reading too many of his posts)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Matt, the old style parties still happen. It's the parents that set the rules, not the kids. Back when I was a kid all I got for my birthday was a cupcake, a half of a popsicle and a new stick and rock. That was after trudging home 3 miles uphill and barefoot. But that's another story. We have visitors coming over this afternoon and I have some chores to do before they come. No rest for the weary. What do truckers take to keep alert on the road nowadays? I think I need some.

Howdy! Nice and sunny again here today - I should drag a TV outside to watch the football game. Sounds like quite a shindig, Matt - hope the kids had a good time.

Have a good one, yawlz!

On our Birthdays we got to take a couple hours off work for pancakes and some new Sunday shoes or a pair of Levis......then it was back to work at the salt mines.......hell Matt we even hired a clown one year.....mostly creeped everyone out.....damn clowns......

Today we are going to visit the LeMay Auto Museum. An old rich garbage collector up here at one time owned 3000 cars and trucks. He would buy one a day for awhile......He is long gone now but left 350 of his prized possession's in a unique built building. Looking forward to it......I will take some pics......

Enjoy your day off Guru's.......

Got the original gas cap looking OK.
Cad plate is really hard to bring back.
Also saved the horn button, the chrome wasn't great and the 2 black rings had to be repainted.

Restoring the grill, painted the brackets.

The solid rivets that hold them on are EXTREMELY small.

Real PIA to hammer them over.

Hey guys...I don't know what is was, but I slept like a log last night. Woke up about 9. Ate a little breakfast and then went for a walk with Rosie and FIL. Then headed west, the Corvette drove pretty nice all the way home. Once home I gave it a bath (more like a shower) then changed the oil/filter. Oil change monitor was down to 39%, but it had been a year. I checked and it was 7200 miles.

A friend was having computer problems and he brought it over. I got it going for him, now waiting on someone to bring me some drawing for me to work on.

I don't remember my 64 having a reset or a trip odo.
