Good Morning CGs!

Well the wife's car is in dire need of some new tires. I checked on Discount Tire's website and it quoted me about $718 out the door. Holy crap. Stopped in the store to see a buddy, and my "friends and family" price was still $662.50. I just about crapped a brick. Checking around, the price is similar across the board. The car runs a goofy sized 18" rim and tire. Doing some online work, I found out that Costco has a sale starting Friday with a $70 instant rebate. That will bring the price down to the upper $500s. We'll be going there for tires. Try to save money where we can. These tires should last the next 5-6 years, it just hurts to fork that much money over at one time.

More rain here today. It's howling out there pretty bad right now. At least it's not freezing.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Tires, belts ,batteries, brakes and blinker fluid are al routine expenses that come up from time to time. A $500 plus hit is always a pain in the wallet. Your wife wanted new tires for Christmas, didn't she. ?

Bought and ice maker on ebay. They seemed to have the best price. Had it shipped in by freight. 3 year full warranty 2 additional years on compressor. Inspected the box on arrival, looked fine. No obvious signs of damage upon opening. Assembled the unit, turned it on. It started up. Checked for ice this morning. No ice. Pain in the ass. I looked up the specs and I found that there is a company that sells these same units locally. I had this one shipped in from Texas. I'm a slow and steady shopper, do my research, find the best prices and so on. Wifey is impatient. She tires quickly of my meticulous scrutiny over every item I wish to buy. "Just buy the damned thing and quit looking!" Well I bought the damned thing and now "I" have another headache and hassle on my hands because she's to busy to deal with it. ............ Rigginfriggin sassafrassin shidilibop. .. It will be resolved. I have some phone calls to make. It's repair it or return it. Like I need more stuff to do. ........

Shayamu!

A patch of blue sky has magically appeared - haven't seen one of those in a few days. A nice break from dark and dreary. Soon we will get a break from warmth, and you'll be able to find as much ice as you want, for free.

Have a good day, all!

I don't know Tom....snowing like a B here right now.....but still calling for 50 degrees here today and tomorrow.....sunshine tomorrow is what is being forecast.....

One thing I always buy local is appliances......with the quality issues of the stuff we get these days I want service available even if I have to pay a bit more........something we have found out the hard way in the past....

Brad......read where a local guy's e-cig quit working so he put a new battery in it and held it up to his ear to see if it was firing and it blew up. Tore his ear off and they had to stitch it back on......what the hell is there to blow up on those things? Anyway they were lamenting lack of Guberment control on manufacturing of the e-cigs as a reason......just what we need more control..........

Ran late on a load last night so taking it easy this morning.....just the kind of dreary morning that a nice morning nap is in order......

Matt I just paid 1400 bucks for a pair of steer tires for the KW......that was mounted and balanced of course.......and I have 8 drivers on the FLiner to replace at $285 each........hope that makes you feel better about your car tires you need......

Have a glorious day Guru's.....

A battery can fail from thermal runaway, usually caused by a dead short, which in turn is usually caused by the operator being a nimrod. Batteries can also be damaged by using the wrong charger.

Time for a quick movie review.

I went to see "Spectre" last night. I thought it was really good. I like Daniel Craig as Bond and I hate to see him go. They say this is his last Bond picture.

The film had lots of really good action and didn't depend on all the gimmicks and gadgets some of the older films had.

And the cars ! Drool...

Anyways, if you haven't already done so, treat yourself to a healthy dose of 007 and see it.

We're cleaning up from our "extreme" weather weekend. The wind gusts were almost 40 mph, and it rained a few hundredths. We were all hanging on for dear life.

Blew some fences down including mine and blew half the storm berm into the streets.

A man and his wife walked into a Dentist's Office.

The man said to the Dentist, "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry I have two buddies sitting out in my car waiting for us to go play golf, so forget about the anesthetic. I don't have time for the gums to get numb. I just want you to pull the tooth, and be done with it! We have a 10:00 AM tee time at the best golf course in town and it's 9:30 already... I don't have time to wait for the anesthetic to work!"

The Dentist thought to himself, "My goodness, this is surely a very brave man asking to have his tooth pulled without using anything to kill the pain."

So the Dentist asks him, "Which tooth is it sir?"

The man turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth Honey, and show him . . ."

Busy day again guys. It did warm up a bit and the sun came out melting what snow we had. CC, wind gusts to 40? Sounds like a normal day in SW Kansas. Yesterday as the storm moved through here we had constant 50mph and gusts to 60-65. I'm not discounting what you guys had, just letting you know that's almost 'normal' for us. We've had sand drifts like that before, it's worse than snow to get rid of. Snow will, at least, melt and run off.

I'm packed up and ready to hit the road in the morning, heading to NE, to visit Marcus...and install some cabinets. Looks like we have a one day window when the sun is going to shine here and there, and supposedly everywhere in between. Once there, I'm not too worried whether or not it rains/snows.

Brad, I saw that one coming.

Ken, we went opening day to see 007. Overall, I thought it was one of the better 007 movies. Impressed my grandsons. It was their first 007 movie they'd seen.
