Good Morning CGs!

First day of February. Cooled off a bit since we had those nice weekend days. Now that it's February I'll be getting ready to trim the branches on the fruit trees in the yard. It's best to do it while they are dormant for the winter.

Last night we all went out to Mongolian BBQ and had some dinner. I stuffed my pie-hole like usual, but I have to get my money's worth at a buffet/all you can eat style joint...

Got the kids up and washed, they are eating breakfast. Wifey will drop them at school and then I'm free to work in the garage.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Morning guys...much cooler today and through mid week, before it gets back to more normal temps. I have a few things to do today, so I better get with it.

Well guys looks like we are going to get blitzed.....40 to 50 mph winds and up to a foot or more of snow heading in. Does not look like we are going to escape it......but we shall see.....

Went to Wal-Mart yesterday and the shelves were getting empty....bread was gone and milk was going fast. Peanut butter and jelly was hit hard also....I guess that tells you what folks rely on to get thru a storm.....

We are getting the snow blower gassed up and our portable power generators started to make sure they run....if you do all this its a good bet we won't need them.......but be prepared is the old scout motto.....

I took the GS out for a spin yesterday in the 50 degree weather. Felt good to be in it again but now its tucked back in the shop with the blanket on it....

More from storm central as it develops........stay warm northern Guru's.....

Rainy grey day again today. Record rainfall for January was recorded. Outside of bareable temps the weather has super sucked this winter. Brought Sue to an AM Dr appointment. I think she's starting to feel better because her energy level has increased as well as her ability to bust my balls. 1/2 a day shot. Took a nap when I got home so at least there has been one good thing that has happened today. Let's see what I do with the rest of the day. Maybe clean up the house a little. Sue gets her stitches out tomorrow. From then on I'm pretty sure she'll start to see gradual improvement.

Cool car if it is really made of wood....

A couple pictures from projects Idid.

Remember the mantle I built? here it is all finished up...ignore the tools and stuff, it has become a storage spot for all the workers.

Here's more from that 'She-Shed" I'm helping with.

First two posts set temporarily
Resized Image

Beams were 'half-lapped' on the ends to extend them out to 36'
Resized Image

The posts and beams are joined together with mortise and tenon joints.

Some of my little tools that I used for creating those 'mortise and tenon' joints. The little chisel is 1 1/4" wide. the big one is 3" and sharp as a razor. The tenon (the male part) is 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 6". Just to give you some scale.
Resized Image

The posts and beam are all together and standing up and the rafters are installed.
