Morning guys....It's Ash Wednesday. I'm up and around. No meat for me today and church service this evening. For some reason, the Hispanic community really come out for this service. The church will be full tonight.

Supposed to be near 70 today and the next couple of days, then a drop Saturday into the 40's before it goes back into the upper 50's

Got a few things to do today, so I beeter get started. Have a great day guys.

Good Morning CGs!

I have to drop the kids off at school today and then I have some free time. My buddy talked about shooting today, not sure if that will happen. It will give me a chance to clean a few guns, though.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Greetings! Cold again, looks like we won't get a break until next week. I have to remember to sign up for Hulu pretty soon since the 11.22.63 mini-series starts on the 15th, looking forward to it.

Have a great day, all!

Took Mimi the Moo-Moo to the groomer this morning. She's our Yorkie that should weigh 8-9 lbs. but tips the scales at 11-12. She's s real sweetheart most of the time. Likes to antagonize Schatzie, the Rottie mix several times a day. Schatz tip the scales at around 65. Mimi is a little dog with a big ego.
Here are the before shots of the area I'm building my new shed. I think I'm gonna call it The Bunkhouse.

As I mentioned, once in a blue moon the rain water will accumulate and flow over the slab. Because of that I have to elevate the floor.

+1 on putting new cars in there..
Cold as ice here - a tit bit nipply outside especially when I had to be out there measuring a flatbed for a partial wrap. I have more here to do than I know what to do with. Good for the boss' bank account. Doesn't change mine any, unfortunately.
Have the 'white bird' plant inside, it's getting a new leaf and sprouted three new 'babies' at the base, two of which I cut off and repotted. One of those is getting a new leaf now. And the big mamma plant, where one of the babies was cut off, is growing back. WTF? And I read this thing can get up to 20 feet tall. That ain't gonna work in my house with 9.5 ceilings

Just build the shed on pontoons, and have attachments on the sides that go around the poles loosely - then the shed can just bob up and down with the water ;-)

Tommy - that's a much larger slab than I was envisioning. I know you talked about raising it 4-8" or so?

What about using cinder block caps - they are 4" thick and 16x8. You could probably mortar them in or just set them and box them in from the outside. You don't really have to worry about freezing, etc. Then they would technically be removable. Otherwise, you'll have to frame in an entire floor with pressure treated 2x4s or 4x4s which I would think would be more expensive.

Just throwing out ideas.

After reviewing the number of blocks needed, I would still have to finish the floor. I decided I'm gonna frame it out and put down plywood decking. Everything would tie in nicely. Everything above the deck will be yellow pine with T1-11 siding. The roof will be single pitched 2' x 8's, plywood, felt, covered with metal panels. The walls will be insulated because I'm putting a portable A/C unit built into a wall, plus 2 impact resistant windows and a steel door with window. The interior walls will be plywood also because I'm gonna hang antique tools all over the place. I'll be able to take whatever I wish to use right off the wall. Some are just display pieces. I think I' gonna leave the roofing 2 x 8's exposed You'll see it as I progress. Guru's, do you think I can get away with studs and trusses 24"on center? I'm thinking that I can, like with the commercial sheds. The interior walls and exterior will be painted also. Interior walls will be about 8'2".

A lot of shed kits are 24" on center, so I'd guess that would be OK. You don't have to worry much about snow loads. :-P

If that pad is stable, you could rebar it and overpour the slab. That might be cheaper than treated lumber.

Lumber prices aren't shocking me as much as pouring concrete. I HATE working with concrete. Wood is my friend.

In political news. Trump is going to shut of the heroin supply to the US at he border and offer help to the junkies who are left to suffer after the cheap supply of heroin is cut off.

Bernie Sanders met with Al Sharpton today. Why ANYBODY would meet with that deadbeat alarmist is beyond me.

Chris Cristie dropped out today shocking as it may be.

60, Gris? That's 15 behind where we made it to.... yes my thermometer on the truck showed 75 today. I made three freaking trips to the next town over. Working on a darn computer, but I mastered it only to come home and have another 'emergency' computer call to do. Got that one fixed and had another one waiting for me when I got home. Had just enough time to get it done before going to church.

Busy, busy day.

Tommy, 24"OC will be OK for what you're doing. You thinking about doing the floor joists on 24"OC too? Might want to go with a plywood sub-floor that is thicker than 3/4" if you are doing that.

Thanks for the input, tee. I can always go 16" on the floor. Your right. It would add considerably to the floor weight support.
