Good Morning CGs!

I had a chance to visit the rehab center last night. I was very impressed with the layout, cleanliness, and overall feeling. All of the employees are very nice. It seems like they go out of their way to help and make the residents comfortable. Residents are allowed to move around freely. They are allowed to have dogs, and a couple of them just wander around freely and the residents can pet them or play with them. We spoke to the nurse on duty about my dad and she was very receptive to everything we said. Any staff member we spoke to was abhorred when we told them about the hospital. I feel good about having him there, which is a relief after the week we've had. This place is about 25 minutes from my house, so better than the hospital was.

I've spent about $250 on tools in the last week so that's my stress relief. Just don't tell the wife

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Greetings! Cloudy and cool here, which was unfortunately expected. Oh well, it is what it is. I may go ahead and put an engine in my riding mower, since it looks like I may be able to get one for less than $600. I need to confirm that the engine I'm looking at will work.

Good to hear the rehab place is nice, Matt - I'm sure that is a load off of your mind.

Have a great day, all!

Sign me up for the club. Mom went into the ER last night. Gonna call Sis and find out the details. What happens over time is I think you just become numb and learn to roll with whatever comes next. I've been hit so many times in my life that there must be nerve damage. I've lost a lot of feeling.

ANOTHER GRAY DAY IN THE NATIONS, STORMS EXPECTED TONIGHT. THE CHEROKEES ARE NOT TOO PLEASED WITH THAT PROSPECT.

GLAD THINGS PROGRESSING WELL WITH YOUR DAD, MATTHEW.

BEST WISHES FOR YOUR MOM, TOMMY.

Some people who think it is wrong to tell children to believe in Santa Claus nevertheless think it is all right to tell adults to believe that the government can give the whole population things we cannot afford ourselves. Believing in Santa Claus is apparently bad for children but OK for adults.

Some of you may want to order hard hats:

Meanwhile, I ordered the engine. The old one was 14hp, the new one is 19hp. I'll be looking to drag race my neighbor :-P

Rosie called from Wichita this morning, said they are telling everyone there that the hail could be baseball size. I told her it was a good thing that she is in the county owned car and not the Caddy.

Most all of that is supposed to go easy of us (Southwest Kansas), and it looks to be building in that direction already.

Here's a picture or two of the quilt rack I did. Mission style. Many years back I wanted to build a quilt rack in the mission style, but never found an original one from the era. So I took the liberty of using an original bookshelf as my starting point. Modified the ends so they could utilize three rails for the quilts to hang on. Incorporated traditional joinery (through mortise and tenon), to come up with the final design. Still have never seen an era example of one, but this would fit right in. The only thing wrong with this one is my choice of wood, this one is plain sawn red oak, where an original to the era would be quarter sawn white oak. 99% of the people would not know that though.

I also want to show you the interior passage door I built. It is solid southern yellow pine. I built this because in order to get one in this size it would have to be custom ordered and built. If it has to be custom built, I may as well be the one custom building it.
