Good Morning CGs!

Went to see dad last night. The geriatric floor he's on now is ten times better than the last hospital. It is part of our original hospital that we go to, so it's different. The staff is better and I explained everything to them. The way they treat them and allow them to move around is better. Dad wasn't given any more drugs. The doctor thinks my mom might be right that when my dad falls, it causes some sort of confusion in his body/brain and takes extra time to heal or readjust. Hopefully he can get back to the nursing home soon.

The granite counter top upgrade is in full swing. Yesterday we paid the deposit and picked out our slabs. Today we are going to buy a sink at the plumbing supply house (TB, got any tips? ). I have to rip out the old counter tops this week because it's saving us $200. Then I have to modify the cabinet filler trim a bit because we are switching from a built in stove/cooktop to a standard oven/stove combo. No biggie. The kitchen will surely look different. Installer also mentioned a little cash discount. I think he's happy to not do any prep work, too. We are pretty easy clients for the most part. Wife is looking forward to having it done, so am I.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Morning guys....As a matter of fact I do, Matt. When we re-did our kitchen last fall we bought a granite composite sink by Blanco. Best price we found was on Amazon. Bought the matching strainers too. Talked to a counter top installer and he tells me there is another one lust like Blanco except less money that is just a good or maybe better, but I don't remember the name. Wish I could be there to lead a hand.

Pretty morning here, cool, but sunny. Work in the shop today on the butcher block top island. Better get to it.

Howdy! Nice and sunny today, and it's supposed to be in the low-70's by tee-time later. Quite a change of pace from the 40's we had last Tuesday.

Matt, I think Tom just offered to come up there and do the plumbing for the new sink ;-)

Have a good day, all!

My offer was to help with the cabinets! I could install the sink....without the plumbing. Nobody really wants me to do the plumbing.

Update on Uboys roommate.....he is out of ICU and looks like they are moving him to Atlanta for further care. He was on the east coast for his National Guard work. They tell us he has feeling down to about his belly button so it may be healing a bit more everyday. We can only hope and pray but it looks like its going to be a long haul.....

SUNNY AND COLD IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, 36 IN TAHLEQUAH, 42 AM GRISHEIM. A LITTLE COOL FOR MAY. THE CHEROKEES BLAME EL NINO.

TODAY'S AGENDA INCLUDES RECOVERY FROM YESTERDAY'S PARTY. I HAVE BEEN INVITED TO PARTICIPATE ;-)

I E&E'D TO TULSA YESTERDAY AND HAD LUNCH WITH MY GUNSHOW BUDDY SAM AT MARGARET'S GERMAN RESTAURANT. MARGARET IS ACTUALLY AUSTRIAN RATHER THAN GERMAN. THE GERMANS AND AUSTRIANS ARE LIKE TEXANS AND OKIES. THEY EACH CLAIM TO BE SEPARATE AND DISTINCT BUT OUTSIDERS CAN'T TELL MUCH DIFFERENCE.:-)

MATT, I HOPE YOUR DAD IS GETTING STABILIZED.

...Tom here is that thread from CF on the welt piping....the stuff I was given came from fabricquru.com and is 1/8th inch vinyl marine welt....there are pics of it in the thread along with the colors they have. Some went with the 1/16th inch stuff from Amazon but I like the thicker one....easier to work with and stay in place with no adhesive needed.

Howdy y'all...
Turned out to be a beautiful weekend. We were expecting rain so Saturday he worked on cars, and I took my Vette to the body shop and hogged the lift for a while. Changed the oil in there and then changed the rear end grease too. That mess that came out was nasty and I have now come across the third worst smell in my lifetime. Trans fluid and filter change is next there's three bolts under there I couldn't get to as easily as he can with what he has at the stealership. Sunday involved a trip to the nursing home to swap mini fridges with her. She was borrowing my beer one while I was getting her a new one. Of course nothing makes her happy. Mowed the foot tall yard at her house, then we came back and stopped to pick up food and fuel pump on the truck went out. Great. Got that home, mowed my yard and weedeated, mowed his yard. we're tired. Monday was kind of a rest day at the shop and now today at the wrap place I have no work here, either. Would be nice to go home and go to bed.
Glad to hear the young man is doing better and making some recovery. Glad to hear things are better with your dad, Matt. When our parents get older, their bodies react differently to environmental stressors as well as meds. If they try to give him hydrocodone or adavan, I'd suggest against it. Those tend to have an adverse affect in older people.

True dat. My Mom gets night terrors, falls out of bed, sleep walks and all kinds of other crazy stuff. She's been trying to get her meds changed or adjusted for a couple years now. They knocked off some of them but something still has her out of sorts. She thinks there is a guy with a knife outside in the hallway. The other night she woke up and tried to close the door but the door wouldn't close and the door kept pushing back at her. Scared her even more. Turns out she had hung her purse on the bedroom door knob. The harder she tried to close the door the more the door resisted. She thought it was funny later but at the time ... scary.

They took my Mom off all her meds and she's rebounding well...she always said the meds were causing more problems then they were fixing....

That's how I read it

The plumbing house was a bust. Only had two faucets in stock in the style we wanted and 2 weeks to order. I can order the same faucet we picked out online for $90 less and have it in 3 days. No brainier.

Got the grass cut and cut down some branches that were about 30 feet up. It involved a 24 ft extension ladder and a pole saw. All worked out OK.

Gotta get the kids soon and then they have swimming lessons. After that I'll go visit my dad.

Who is that dude, Jesus??
Yeah, Tommy they gave my mamma adavan (sp?) prior to her death really messed her up, hyper and angry and all kinds of things. My cousin in nursing home got a hydro on a recent hospital trip. Had to take her outside to prove to her we weren't at her house, constant arguing with me over things and all kinds of mess. Depression meds, pain meds, mood stabilizers, etc.

The box on the lower right side is the irrigation timer with a light switch plus two outlets. We may be upgrading the service out there. We'll see as it goes.

Made lots of headway on the island today. The freaking top is so heavy that I can't move it very well by myself. The Oak legs (2 7/8 square x 34") just add to the weight. I say it's an island, as big as it is, it's more like a small country.

The shed is looking good there Tommy. Brad that video is freaky.
