Ok, back to the Power Steering System (I submitted a post on this a while ago). So I installed a new Power Steering Pump AND Pulley and it all went well. Here's my error. I did not jack up the front end and turn the wheels numerous times to get the bubbles out. The steering sucks. Sometimes it works other times I have to ask the driver next to me to help me turn my wheels. I know, I know, its my fault for not taking the time but moving beyond this what's my next step? I have tried jacking it up and turning the wheels several times to no avail.Does anyone know where the connections are for flushing the system? All recommendations are appreciated.

Lastly, where is a good spot for jacking the front end up? I've done it on the sides where the original jack notches are but that just doesn't look right to me when I get her up in the air.

You can jack the car up by placing jack under the K- brace. This this the wide metal cross-car assembly that is directly in front of the oil pan. Just be careful not to let jack catch the oil pan when you start jacking.
Next, check fluid level in pump and do not over fill.
Start car and very slowly turn steering wheel left to right, then back without hitting the bump stops. Turning wheel too far will just agitate the fluid making it harder to remove air. Need to do this approx 20 times or more depending on amount of air trapped.
It is a slow process, so don't rush it.

There is nothing wrong with using the factory jack points under the stands, but you can also do what Joel suggested.

The place to flush the system is actually the hose connections that you already had available when you had the pump off. Technically, when you replace the pump you should also replace the lines and flush the rack.

Just as Joel said, once it's jacked up with the car running, slowly turn the wheel back and forth 20 times. Visibly inspect the fluid when the car is idling. You should see the fluid moving (to show pump is working) and you should see no bubbles at the end (to show air is out). If there are a lot of bubbles, it will take time for them to dissipate. If it continues to have a lot of bubbles, you possibly have a leak that is introducing air into the system.

Good luck.

and don't go too far inboard, either... you can nail the floor... ask me how I know.

When jacking from the k-member, it's important not to find the oil pan. Just be patient and it will be just fine!

I jacked her up (Thanks Joel) and turned it back and forth over 20 times slowly. Didn't seem to work. Guess the next step is to flush the system?

I lost my power steering hose last month. On my 87. My power steering pump was only a year old. I decided if I had to tear all the stuff in the way I would just put my other new pump on. And save this one.
Before I put the belt on I hand spin the pump pulley. I check in the reservoir for air bubbles. I leave the reservoir cap off for an hour then start engine. Knock on wood I have never had air in the lines.
Good luck
Steve

Sorry, what didn't work about it? If you didn't see bubbles, there is no air trapped. If there is no fluid circulating then you have a problem with a pump or a blockage in the system.

The steering is actually worse. Something I just picked upon istter1' post was (I probably shouldn't admit this) I forgot to remove the reservoir cap. Back in the garage...... I should never do these things after a graveyard shift

Removing the cap is so you can see the bubbles

If you look at the cap there is actually a bleed hole at the top to release air/pressure.
