Got the brakes done last night. I was surprised how easy the job went. Nothing rusted shut and nothing snapped while disassembling. That must mean something's wrong because it was too easy

I'll bed them in tonight, couldn't do it last night.

Another warm day on tap. AC worked great in the Vette yesterday so that was a plus.

Hope everyone has a great day!

General rule of thumb. What is thought to be easy will be hard. What is thought to be difficult will be easy. And then there's plumbing .................. Come to think of it, brakes are kinda like plumbing ......

I've been looking at Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons and Yukon XL's online. Used ones go for damned near the price of a new one. Holy crap. They throw around figures from 42 to 80k for new like it was chump change. They want 40 for 2015 with over 36k miles. No way, Jose. If I'm gonna drop over 40 it's gonna be new. Look, my 99 Yukon has been with me for 17 years now. I need to upgrade. If I drove a new one 8k miles a year, that truck could easily last me 20 years if maintained properly. Can't say the same for the flesh and bones I'm wearing. 20 years? Hah! Thought about this. Asking price for my Yukon in 99 was $31,900. Paid $28,900 and it had 18k miles on it when I bought it, 1 model year old. I guess 40k is the new 30k .........

Oh ya, what burns my ass is not so much the selling price as the $2800 sales tax, dealer fees, title transfer. Toss another $3500 into the fire ......

Howdy! Nice and sunny, will be nice for golf later. We lucked out - this is the only day this week that doesn't have rain in the forecast. I will consult with the weather weenie just to make sure the meteorologists aren't smoking something.

Matt, I'm sure you'll pay for that job being too easy, one way or another.

Enjoy the day, Gurus!

Morning guys...Long day yesterday. But the catalyst made the difference. The frames will go into the trailer being readied for the KC trip. Picked up some door jambs that needed clear sprayed on them and got that done. Had a client call with a computer problem, so I worked on that and another one bought a new computer and needed me to set it up for them so picked that one up for work in the evening. Another guy was supposed to come by and look at the plumbing issue I've been putting off, but he was running late, so I went out to mens golf. Got teamed up with a guy that ALWAYS wins, so I thought, "I'm going to win tonight." Well he played like crap and we were out of the money by 2 strokes. Oh weel, the food was good. Came home from that and started on the new computer, only to have the guy show up to look at the sprinkler system valve, so showed him that and started talking about my shop, so I took him out to see that and talked for an hour and a half. By that time it was after 10:30 and I hadn't started on the computer, so went back down stairs and finished it up about 1am.

Today I have several things to do, so I better get to them.

Weather is nice...sunny, clear skies and no wind, yet. Supposed to be mid 80's

Tommy, the price of vehicles is ridiculous. Matt I'm happy for you that the brake job didn't turn into a break job. and that you were able to find another tool or two to add to your collection.

Have a great day guys.

Matt shouldn't you paint those calipers yellow or something.....you know to be cool.......just wondering....

Big rain last night.....2 inches of the stuff......just what we needed around here.......no really I was thinking about getting the sprinklers started up....

Speaking of sprinklers the fence guys were here to finish up the fence and they chopped a sprinkler electrical cable in half digging a hole......geez...then a bit later they dug another hole and hit the main underground power cable to the house. So had to call an electrician out for that.......I told them where the power cable was and to dig carefully.........what? Nobody knows how to dig carefully anymore....? holy moly......

got work to do......have a day of wonder Guru's......

Yeah Tommy I gave up on buying new.......just ridick what some of the Tahoe's cost new.....let someone else handle that lot drop......to bad to because I have about 5K on my GM card to use on a new vehicle.....did not say I would not ever buy a new Vette though.......

Ya Marcus. Those big GM SUV's are the cash cows for the brands. They could probably discount them 25% and still turn a profit. They drop them $5000 and act like they're giving them away (Not). Then the dealers offer discounts that few qualify for. Like a Farm Bureau $500 discount, USAA member discount, corn husker and pole bean counter discount, Fiji native discount. Ya know, stuff like that. I'm gonna keep hunting. Maybe something I like will drop in my lap. Or maybe I shouldn't look at all. You find stuff when you're not lookin for it.

I like this approach. See what you like. Tell the salesperson "I'm gonna give you one shot to give me the best price on that vehicle that you can." Then when he tells you, get up, walk out the door and don't look back. Unless of course it's a deal you can't refuse. Highly unlikely. They didn't build those dealerships on goodwill.

Prices of any vehicle lately has went through the roof. Saw a nice SUV a while back, sticker was $71K for the thing. That's a damned house! The trucks in the price range I'm looking at are $15-20K and I keep seeing 150-250k on miles and what not. Ridiculous!
speaking of ridiculous - this was in our news, but from OH.
What is the world coming to lately? What could this kid have possibly done?

THERE IS A SIMPLE CURE FOR PEOPLE LIKE THAT AND IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 20 YEARS TO PUT IT INTO EFFECT.

I can't read that stuff.....I love the little ones and can't imagine the monsters who could ever hurt them like that......I always think of me looking down the sight of my Colt Commander and dealing them a little justice........naaa not killing them just capping them in both knees.......wow.....I'm radical......

I really like the Husker discount Tommy.....course the SUV is always red and when you hit the horn it plays.....there is no place like Nebraska......

Busy day again. Bad storms to the east of us. I knew things were going to get bad by the middle of the afternoon. Felt funny (air-wise) and then the big thunderheads started building and the huge "anvil cloud" billowed up. Lots of tornadoes east of us.
