Pulling out onto the main road from the house,
the Corvette through all the belts!

Need to pull it apart, install new belts and see what the damage is

So much for he Mustang vs Corvette drag race tomorrow

At least it happened at home and not going down the dragstrip!

Threw the belt(s)? Did they just come off or tear up?

Didn't realize there was a blower involved or multiple belts. Not knowing any part of it, assuming that nothing failed in the blower or possible tensioner, I'd look at either pulley alignment or belt failure first. I suppose it's possible to have pulley wobble but I'd look into alignment.

This all assuming you have not done whatever you did this time. If so then I'd look into belt failure first.

Looking forward to an update. In my experience, belts don't just shred for no reason. Hope it's something minor.

Literally just adding HD to the end for your size.
Mine is stiff as hell but I may need to go down 1/2" for a tighter wrap.

Rockauto had mine in 94.5" in stock and they had a nice price as well.
Maybe order one and keep the regular as a spare?

Yup, I'm twisting the engine enough to make the pulley GRIND THE FRAME!

Now that is pretty wild.

Do they even make solid mounts for the C4? I have the XE poly mounts but this has me thinking.

Not that I know of

I thinking on installing a turnbuckle

Just talked with Greg@BlowerWorks

He can get me a smaller pulley

It's an idler so it won't mess up the drive ratio

Someone on CF had made solid motor mounts. I don't know of a commercial outlet for them.

The LT1 has a different mount system... this rubber thing full of something to make it hydraulic. I can see it giving up.

I don't know if traditional mounts would even work on the later C4.

I am sure something could be machined from poly and a bolt threaded through.

Workspace - that's one reason I WAS considering selling the Z - had to clear space for new projects, before starting...

But now that an INJ is leaking (in addition to oil catch can work), it has returned to the 'project table'.

I finally got that stupid bolt out!

There's suppose to be a 12pt bolt so you can access it

But the second hand kit did not come with the hardware,
So my builder put a 6pt in instead

Finally got it off with a 9/16 socket on a 1/4in drive

Talked to my builder yesterday, really just to ask how he managed to put it together

I mentioned the torque strap

He said not to use a chain or a turnbuckle.
They might set off the knock sensor

But a strap should work

Just about have it all back together

Just need to hook up the radiator

BTW putting the belt back on is WAY easier with the radiator hoses out of the way.

I'll have 30 hours into it by the time I'm finished.

If I had gone back to the $75/hr shop that installed it that would have been $2,250

Something said for practice and knowing how it all comes apart.

I got it all apart in less that 3 hrs.

Summit sent me a stock plastic replacement

Need to helicoil one of the tapped holes in the bracket
Been together & apart too many times

NAPA had the correct helicoil kit in stock.

These kits are close but are not perfect. I took an entire pulley off and clearanced a spacer as it was hitting.

Good you saw it before fireup causing damage.

'Knowing' your motor; just what I preach.

Most would rather just drive 'em broken...

OK _finally_ had time to get the blower back on the car.

With the new _smaller_ idler pulley the belt K080525 seems a little _loose_

I had the next size down K080514, but that's way to short.

Tried looking up some different manufacturers, but can seem to find any in between the two

IT'S ALIVE!

No belts in between those two sizes.
So I put it back together with the belt size I was running.

I'll see how much slip I get.
May not be that much, seeing I'm only running 5psi boost.

Letting it sit overnight to check to leaks.
I'll take it for a run tomorrow.
