Thank you. These were taken with my little Sony RX100, which predictably had a lot of trouble with the combination of distance, speed, and night.

In hindsight, the best combination I have for the night pictures is the Nikon Df with its 50 mm prime. However, lugging that incredibly conspicuous camera all over France would probably not have been a good idea. For great night shots at Le Mans, I leave it to the pros ...

John, do you have a press pass or were those areas open?

Also, curious why there was a tank there?

I'm assuming you are talking about the pictures taken in the pits—on Friday, pit access was free to anyone with general admission. On Saturday, it was about $500 to get in.

That infantry fighting vehicle (I don't want to get in trouble with GRIS!) was there for recruiting purposes—both the French Army and the French  Air Force were present.

I made that mistake with my Sony A350 and rarely used it.  That was a very heavy mistake that I made.

John - Don't fret Europe... I carried a D200 all over.

The one thing I will suggest, check with your insurance company. State Farm offers a personal property policy. I have one, and our laptops, my Rolex and Nikon D810 are all on it. Covered for REPLACEMENT value.

If in 3 years, the D810 is stolen, lost or whatnot, I am entitled to replace it... at that point, I will get a check for what I paid for the D810. No depreciation.

The Rolex gets appraised every few years, and replacement is adjusted yearly.

And Bastet is relegated to driving a C4? A 2016 Z06 might be more appropriate.

QUITE RIGHT, JOHN. ALTHOUGH IN MY DAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED AN ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER. THE CHANGE IN NOMENCLATURE REFLECTS AN INCREASED EMPHASIS IN FIGHTING MOUNTED.
