WET AND COOL IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, THE PROMISED RAIN ONCE AGAIN DIDN'T AMOUNT TO MUCH. THE CHEROKEES ARE DISAPPOINTED.

Howdy! It's gonna be 55 here today, practically summer. Plenty rainy, though - not gonna complain, since it has been pretty dry for the last month. Meanwhile, the alarm clock was not a welcome sound this morning.

Have a good day, all!

Morning guys....slept in again. Unseasonably warm again this morning (40) and, I guess, it's supposed to warm up again today into the 60s. Quite a change in thought from Fridays forecast for us. I'll take it though. We had enough moisture yesterday to make the concrete damp, but not enough to do any good. Sunny this morning.

I have things to do in the shop so I need to get started out there.

The $5.00 office desk story. (condensed version)

Yesterday I got a call from Sue from the place where the auction was held the day before. She had met with a guy that bought a lot and she wanted to buy a couple of pieces from that lot. He ended up just giving them to her and waving her off refusing to take any money. She also found a couple of unsold lot items that she bought for either $5 or for free. One lady had bought an office desk, a really nice one. Big, heavy, well made. There was only one minor problem. The desk was too big to fit out the door. Sue offered the purchaser the $5 she paid for it and hence, the reason I got a phone call.
Honey, can you come up to the house you were at yesterday and bring a drill, extension cord and screw tip? Upon hearing this inquiry my immediate response was a combination of and I had been setting up the stereo equipment I had bought the day before and was wiring up the speakers. Knowing this was going to be an issue because I heard the movers saying the night before it couldn't be moved without disassembly. Rigginfiggin sassafrasson shidilabop! I arrived, steamed, of course, from having MY plans interrupted. Looked at the desk and made several comments that were of little help. Let the fun begin. Took about an hour to get all the pieces apart. Good thing though I guess as this desk weighed at least a couple of hundred pounds. Disassembled , loaded we headed to the nursery. Sue had a couple of hours of office organizing and needed to take out the old desk before we you bring in the new to her desk.
This gave me time to go home and finish what I started. Later in the day I returned. Turns out Sue ended up working on sales and made a few even though the nursery was technically closed. Still, the office needed more work. I had to go to HD so I told her I would be back in an hour or so. Later I returned and started the assembly process. Sue had moved most of the stuff into the back of the box truck. Computer, monitors and a host of other goodies. Piece by piece it was put together and the desk was complete again. Next, put the electronics back in. Sue just disconnected everything and I was looking at just a nest of wiring. nothing marked. I decided to just put each item back to function one at a time. Got everything up and running. All that was left was to put all the office records and supplies back in order. (It's a small office space. It all had to come out) That's what she is working on today as well as regular customer business. Anyway, got home around 09:00 PM. Really, there is nothing too astonishing about this story. It's stuff that happens to me ALL the time. So why did I write about it? Because a $5.00 desk cost me 6 hours of time and her probably about 12 hours. Did I have time for it? No! Do I have time for most of the stuff Sue throws at me? No! Does any of this make a difference? HELL,NO! It's just another day. Meanwhile as I was writing this ......... Ring ............. Ring ....... Adios amigos.

Here is an example of some of the stuff the auction company sells.

I can't go to that auction since I'll be cruising and donating to the casino coffers instead.

Still, discounting the hundreds of $$$ worth of labor, a $5 desk is a good deal ;-)

Good evening CGs!

Rain here, as well. Chilly, though.

Tommy, sounds like you scored some good deals despite the work involved.

I've been driving the new Accord the past couple of days and I'm enjoying it so far. Very comfortable, nice interior, and surprisingly fast although I only tested it out once. I've managed 35+ on the highway and around 30 in the city. Pretty impressive for a gasser, although I'm not a lead foot.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Work is a four letter word to which I stream a number of other 4 letter words when the _ _ _ _ is unwelcome.

Enjoy the ride, Matt. Does it have a nice stereo for when you listen to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus?

Oohhhhh! ;)

Evening guys, It turned out to be a really nice day. I got out to the shop and one of my friends called to see if I wanted help doing this small porch I was in charge of getting done. Long story short, I was supposed to have a former student do the work and I was supposed to make sure it got done right. He didn't get back with me when he said, so I didn't get it done when I thought I was going to. Come to find out he's taken another construction job over in the 'city', which has put me in a bind. Another former student (farmer in summertime) siad he'd help, but was having knee surgery and wouldn't be able to help, got a call this weekend putting off his surgery until next week, Today said he could help me, so I run around and pick up most of the materials we need. I tear the old awning off and get some of the groundwork laid this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon we will do as much as we can to put the new one up. That took me right up to 5pm.

So after supper, I went back out to the shop to cut some things on the router. Now I'm tired and hope I'll be able to get around in the morning to get all I have on the agenda for tomorrow.
