We are safe in Raleigh, North Carolina. So far, we have traveled 2,607 miles, 1,109 of them on Route 1. Highlights so far:

Savannah, Georgia was gorgeous. We visited one of the classic homes (the Owens-Thomas house) and had a very interesting dinner at The Grey, built in an old Greyhound bus station.

We took the short tour of Daytona International Speedway and visited their interesting and eclectic racing museum. Later that same day in Vero Beach, Florida, we enjoyed cocktails at the Cobalt Lounge and dinner at the Ocean Grill.

Tom was a wonderful host in Homestead, Florida, both relaxing and educating us. He also bought us brunch ...

Though hot, the drive down and back from Key West, Florida was beautiful. We also enjoyed our stay at Eden House bed and breakfast, ate a good dinner at Prime Steakhouse, and had wonderful fresh fruit-infused drinks at Pepe's (around since 1909).

After experiencing some torrential Florida rains, we spent our first night on Route 1 at the lovely Casa Coquina del Mar bed and breakfast in Titusville, Florida, which has a great view of Kennedy Space Center. Dinner was across the street at El Leoncito, a Mexican/Cuban restaurant with very good food.

The drive from Titusville, Florida to Augusta, Georgia turned out to be a wonderful "Chamber of Commerce" day—sunny with broken clouds and temperatures in the mid-70s. We responded by keeping the top down as much as possible as we moved rapidly north in Georgia.

Grace is functioning well. We got an (accurate) high tire pressure warning on day one, as ambient temperatures increased by over 40 degrees—easily fixed. Ivelis also believes that the driver #1 memory is failing, but inconsistently.

Sounds like all is going well!!! Awesome!

I have many fond memories of driving to FL from DE as a kid (passenger) and a teen/young adult.

It's a neat drive. Continue to have fun!!!

Tonight, we are safely in Stamford, Connecticut. We're well over 3,000 miles total at this point. Grace is quite dirty, but otherwise fine.

Yesterday was my birthday. We drove from Raleigh, North Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland. The morning driving south of Richmond, Virginia was really nice driving, the afternoon driving not so much. We stayed at the Lord Baltimore, a circa 1928 "grand dame" hotel in the downtown.

Today, we once again had nice driving in the morning and challenging driving in the afternoon. Ivelis drove magnificently as we navigated the George Washington Bridge and the Cross Bronx Expressway. Once we got to New Rochelle, we followed the coastline to Stamford.

We arrived safely home at 9:38 AM this (Saturday) morning, with 4,952 miles showing on the trip odometer.

Pirctures coming as soon as I figure out how to free enough hard drive space.

Folks on this forum are a big reason we feel confident taking these trips!

A tease—this is from the "Chamber of Commerce" day in Georgia; sunshine, broken clouds, and 70 degrees.

Looks like a perfect trip! Might I say, if your day job doesn't work out you would be an outstanding trip planner! Thanks for posting.

Thank you. People are always shocked when they find out that I'm the travel agent instead of Ivelis—mostly because she plans so capably for the rest of our lives together. As she says: "I just get in the car and ask where we're going."
