Ok...here goes...I had a renegade intake put on my car...wether imagined or not,car seemed to run better, more power...had it dynoed...tech did 2 pulls...told me when rpm hit 4600-4700 power would drop...I ask if he knew what would cause this..he said it wasn't getting enough fuel to match air intake...any thoughts on how or what to do to fix this issue? thank you for any input

A friend of mine, on another forum, put the Renegade manifold on his 82. He had to really work at it, but finally got the 82 to put out the power levels he was hoping for. If you are interested, I can put you in touch with him.

That's the computer... and the throttle bodies...

The first thing you should do is upgrade the ECU from the 1984 part to the 1987 Pickup truck part. There is some wiring changes, but the speed of the computer and its ability to tune faster is valuable.

Check fuel flow... the flow is rated for that kind of RPM where the engine dies naturally... you might need a bit more pump, but not a lot more.

The other trick is to use the 454 big block throttle bodies. They flow much better.

Repin the ECM to a newer (faster) model and have a custom tune made. That should do it.
