Just thought I’d let you know the Spina Bifida Picnic was a week ago. Attendance was down some from prior years, so was the number of drivers and cars (9) but we had enough. I took 4 kids for rides: two 3 year old’s, a 9 yr. old and an 11 year old. The drive was about 5-7 miles and it was a good day. First was the 11 yr. old, very uneventful, just a nice drive. He said he had an issue with noise and asked if we could keep the top and windows up, which I did just for him. Next was my first 3 yr. old. Mom thought she’d be ok alone, and was till I started the car. Then it became ‘I want my Mommy’, so we pulled out of line. Happened Mama was close by and I gave her the choice to either keep her daughter there or join us, she chose to join us. I told her to duck if we saw cops as it would be 2 people under 1 seatbelt, but didn’t see any police and they had a good ride, I got a nice smile for that one. Next was the 9 yr. old, and we had a bit of excitement. There was a blind corner on the right that if you didn’t catch it you’d keep going the wrong way. Well the car ahead of us didn’t even slow down, so I asked my rider if we should get them and of course he was an energetic “YES”. We chased them down about a ½ mile down the road and got them back on track. He was bragging how we did a search and rescue on another Corvette and rider and that they got lost and we didn’t. He got some bragging rights on that one
My last rider was my other 3 yr. old. When her Dad brought her over to ride alone, I was a little worried after my first one but he was sure she’d be ok. I was using a booster seat for the little ones so they could see over the dash. I talked to them (especially this one) as we went along and she was cute as the dickens but didn’t say a word the whole time. She’d be looking out front with the straightest face, then she’d turn to face me and give me the biggest grin then go straight faced again while looking forward. She had to do it at least 6-8 times when we were out. When we got back and Dad asked how it was, she had the biggest grin on her face and she was a perfect passenger.

They were all cute but those 2 littlest ones really got to you. Hope you’d enjoy the story. I admit, I get more out of it than the kids did and they all had the biggest grins on their faces.
