Well, we didn’t get away as early as we had hoped. So we got here later, about 11pm. We stopped 4 times and still made the trip in about 6 hours. Weather here is nice 62 already looking for highs in the mid 80s. The kids are off to work and we are here watching the grands. They are off for PT conferences.

Not much on the agenda for today except watch the grands. I’m going to go over to my lumber supply place and pick up some things and see about some other materials for an upcoming project. Other than that maybe a haircut later when daughter gets home.

I hope everyone here has a great day.

Hidey-ho! Semi-sunny so far. To ward off evil Friday the 13th spirits, I put the garbage out. I need to get cracking on getting the Vette ready for storage.

Have a good trip, Tom!

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

"OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING---" THE WEATHER IS LULLING MY SUSPICIONS ON FRIDAY THE 13TH. (NATIONAL FAILURE DAY, BTW)

FLASHING LIGHTS AND A CROWD OF CARS, COPS, TWO CRASH WAGONS, AND A FIRE TRUCK DOWN BY THE COW PEN THIS MORNING. A NEIGHBOR UP THE HILL RAN HIS TRUCK OFF THE ROAD INTO A DEEP DITCH. SEEMED LIKE A MASSIVE OVER REACTION AS NO REAL HARM WAS DONE OTHER THAN TO THE TRUCK AND, DOUBTLESS, SOMEONE PRIDE.

WE HAVE A RESIDENT SCHIZOPHRENIC WOODPECKER. IT'S A FEMALE RED BELLIED WOODPECKER WHO DISPLAYS A REPETITIVE, RANDOM BEHAVIOR PATTERN THAT HAS CONTINUED FOR WEEKS. BIZARRE.

FLU SHOT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY; DARE I RISK IT ON THE 13TH ;-)

Good Morning CGs!

I was off Wednesday and it was a busy day as usual. After I dropped off the kids I had to look at a "noise while turning" on FILs car...his car maintenance schedule is when something breaks bring it to me. Drove it, it is was grinding pretty bad. I did an inspection and found the whole front suspension was shot. 06 Nissan Altima with 115,000 miles. I couldn't do all of it at home. Suspension work on the floor sucks. Ended up taking it to my buddy's shop in the evening. Along with him and his cousin (also professional mechanic) we replaced both front struts, both lower control arms, both outer tie rod ends, front pads, rear rotors and pads because caliper slides were seized, rear sway bar end links. Parts alone were $900. But it all needed to be done. With a lift and all of us together it was done in 2 1/2 hours. Because we are really tight he charged me $100 for the lift and $150 for his cousin. How can I say no to that??? Added an alignment the following morning. Total all inclusive cost was $1211. Independent shop cost would have been $2500 if we didn't do it. Not bad.

While driving I could still feel a vibration in the floorboards. FIL never mentioned it but I thought the new suspension would fix it. Did some digging and found a bad passenger side motor mount. I ordered that from Rock Auto. Should be here next week. Luckily about 25 minutes to change that and I can do it in the driveway. I hope that fixes the vibration.

Wife's brake light went out. Tried to change it last night - of course it's some weird light that I didn't have in my arsenal of 20+ bulbs. I need to pick up a pack later today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

You're a handy guy to know, Matt ;-)

Meanwhile, I think I last got a flu shot in about 1978.

Dadgum, everybody needs a Matt around the house!
Roofers started on the house yesterday. BF came home for a ham sandwich at lunch said he was having ham sandwich in a "mexican restaurant in the living room". I'm like WTF? He said apparently one of them set his boom box on the chimney and it was echoing polka music literally all over the entire house at lunchtime while he was home. BF had to work on the 65 we're bout to send home at the body shop, work some kinks out with the shifting and what not. I'm going up there Monday for any needed paint touch ups and detail things that I can take care of. Also plan to sort through all the photos and make the customer a video or two to give him on a cd of things along the progress, in addition to one of the truck done to highlight. Need to get his final bill together as well. It goes home in two weeks.

I'm more trouble than it's worth to keep around, Letty. What everyone needs is a best friend who owns a shop and lets you bring your personal cars over at 6:30 pm and then helps you work on them for free...

That's a sharp truck, too!

Sweet truck, Letty.

Took #1 and two of her girls and the two we are watching to Chipotle for lunch. Looks like we will be taking everyone out for supper someplace.

Picked up my stuff at the lumber place and then went to Woodcraft and bought some stuff.

LETTY THAT TRUCK LOOKS LIKE THE SAME COLOR AS MY FIRST VEHICLE, A '54 FORD PICKUP. WISH I HAD IT BACK :-)

HOW ENTERTAINING TO WATCH THE NATIONAL SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS HOIST WITH THEIR OWN “SEXUAL HARASSMENT” PETARD. THEY USED THESE WEAPONIZED ACCUSATIONS FOR YEARS AGAINST CONSERVATIVES AND NOW ARE FINDING, AS THE OLD FOLKS USED TO SAY, WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND.

When that truck goes home we were supposed to start on his dune buggy then finish his 68 corvette. Then he up and drug up a 58 Apache. I'm not in the mood to do another one of those trucks for a long long time. Wasn't interested in the chrome on the front either, but that's what the guy wanted. Looks pretty tho. Sure has been a huge PITA
