Up at normal time this morning....I didn't want to though. The alarm was most unwelcome this morning. And I can't sleep in tomorrow either, church at 8am then I am headed north a couple hours drive to the regional Vocational school to talk to the Carpentry class about cabinetry and counter tops. I'll probably be MIA most of the day.

It is really COLD this morning, 8 now, but the wind isn't blowing......yet. They aren't looking for any warm up today, might get up to mid 30s. This cold front can just move right on through and it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

I've got to go look at a bathroom remodel today. The lady has been on my list for a couple years, but one thing or another has put it off. I sat with her yesterday at the old folks lunch and told her we could start on it after the first of the year, so I'm going to go look at what we are dealing with this morning.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Pearl Harbor day. Remember the Arizona, and what this day means to us...I guess it means a lot less as time goes by and people don't know about it.

You are right, Gris. Hell, many have already forgotten/forgiven 9/11 and that's only been 16 years. And that battle has NEVER been decided/resolved.

Greetings! Mother Nature is saving wear and tear on the thermometer this morning by only requiring it to display one digit. I ventured out this morning - roads are mostly cleared up, but there are still a few icy spots, so you need to be on your toes.

I am grateful that I got to visit Pearl back in 2007. It was quite a moving experience, and I had wanted to go there since I was a little kid.

Unless I missed something, I haven't seen Letty here in a while - hope her recovery is still moving along smoothly.

Have a good day, all!

Amen to the Peal Harbor hero's....... Unbelievable how that changed peoples lives with us getting into WWII......

Here in Nebraska at Offutt airbase the work goes on to identify the 429 sailors and Marines who were killed on the USS Oklahoma when it was hit by torpedoes....... of the 429 men only 35 were identified at the time of their burial. Rest would lay for decades in 46 other graves marked Unknown.

Through DNA they have identified 100 of the men and have sent the remains back to their families to be buried next to family members at home........the work is ongoing. amazing........

So 76 years later the story of that day is still going on for some families.......wow........

gotta go...... have a swell day Guru's.......

HISTORY NOTE:

THE PEARL HARBOR ATTACK WAS THE BRAINCHILD OF ADMIRAL YAMAMOTO ISOROKU. IRONICALLY, YAMAMOTO HAD STAUNCHLY OPPOSED GOING TO WAR WITH THE US. HE HAD SPENT A GOOD BIT OF TIME HERE. DON'T AWAKE THE SLEEPING GIANT, HE SAID, THE ONLY WAY WE COULD WIN WOULD BE LAND ON THE WEST COAST AND MARCH ACROSS TO THE EAST COAST. AND THERE WOULD BE A MAN WITH A RIFLE BEHIND EVERY BLADE OF GRASS. THE BIG SHOTS DIDN'T LISTEN. WE'RE GOING TO WAR THEY SAID AND YOU HAVE TO WIN IT. SAID YAMAMOTO, I CAN RUN WILD THE FIRST TWO YEARS, AFTER THAT I CAN MAKE NO PROMISES. AND SO HE DID.

A P-38 FLIGHT AMBUSHED HIM IN THE AIR WHILE ON AN INSPECTION TOUR. AT MIDWAY HE WAS THWARTED BY INTELLIGENCE INTERCEPTS AND IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC INTEL INTERCEPTS KILLED HIM. HE WAS JAPAN'S BEST.

Good Evening CGs!

Cold here as well, today. I'm ready for spring

I believe Tommy is on a cruise now, is that right?

We are working up to Christmas, it will be here sooner than you think. Most presents have been purchased. The wife was doing some wrapping today.

Speaking of Christmas presents, I'm always accepting donations from generous forum members

Hope everyone has a great day!
