Since I seem to have the time today, I'll drop a line to let you all know what's been going on here at the Pallacial double-wide.
Earlier this year we decided a new or nearly-new car was needed as our rides were were getting too long in the tooth. The '01 Impala and '02 Malibu were both "fill the need" cars bought because we had to have something for a low price. Still feeling the effects of the recession as I'm now back up to my 1997 wage level. The wife's Suburban we bought new in Y2k and she no longer trusts it since all the steel brake likes blew out in a hard stop in May. In order to get the best deal we knew to wait til now, but I found myself combing the new and certified inventories for a 250 mile radius. I finally found a car she wanted that was not too far over the limits of my 401k. We ended up with a Silver/gray 2017 Impala LS that was 60+ miles away. I'd post bragging pics if I could remember how. On a sadder note, another of my "brothers" has been taken. There are six of us who share the common bond of friendship which began as brotherhood in our college fraternity in 1975 with me and Paul, who is my 1st "little brother ". We lost Dave to a motorcycle accident in Denver 15 months ago. This past Friday, December 22, we lost our most athletic and well preserved brother, Rick, to complication of the flu that attacked his heart. He has left behind his loving wife, and a son (18), and a daughter (15). Yesterday, all of us close to him met and gave him a send off befitting a proper barfly. It's known that I get a bit sappy around the holidays, but this makes it worse for me. You guys are gonna get it too, so here goes; Don't wait for things like this to happen. Make a concerted effort to tell those you love that you love them. If if make things awkward, big deal, tell them why you're doing it, and that'll smooth it out. Just do it. You'll never be sorry. |

So very sorry to hear about your friend. We never know our time, or theirs and those small gifts of the expression of care and love toward them are priceless and you never know when it will be your last words.
