CLEAR AND COLD IN THE NATIONS, 12 DEGREES ON THE FRONT PORCH BUT NO WIND AT PRESENT. IF THE WIND GETS UP IT WILL BE MISERABLY COLD. THE CHEROKEES ARE SLEEPING IT OFF.

I'LL BE HEADING OVER TO OKMULGEE FOR DINNER, GOT TO GET MY BLACK EYE PEAS TO STAVE OFF DISASTER IN 2018 ;-)

After seeing some recaps of last year and forecasts for this year I thought I'd chime in. Last year we did quite a few things. This year I anticipate we will do quite a few more. Unless we don't but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Low 40's and mid 30's forecast for Wed. Thur. Fri. Please keep your weather of below 55* to your northern climes if you don't mind.

Morning guys....Really cold this morning, -5. Stayed up until the new year came in, then hit the sack pretty quick.

Headed to church pretty quick, then just hanging out.....inside of course.

I want to wish all my friends here, as Very Happy New Year. I hope that 2018 is everything you want it to be.

Happy New year to you all. It was down to -30º by midnight, but then stared to warm up and it was -20º at 7 this morning. Just a bit frosty. I am going out for coffee and a little breakfast. Should get up to 0º today. All brass monkeys were brought in the past few days.

Happy New Year! It is a bit warmer than yesterday, only -10. There are rumors that the thermometer could actually register temperatures on the other side of 0 tomorrow. Meanwhile, I don't know what 2018 will bring, but I'm pretty sure that it will go by faster than 2017 (or at least seem so).

Enjoy the first day of the new year, Gurus!

We were attending The Last Jedi when the clock struck 12 last night..... me and Uwoman touched our lightsabers like they were a couple of tall necks and muttered May the Force be with you......... a fitting way to enter the new year.....

15 degrees below 0 F No wind at present....... I am in my thick warm black robe over my flannel PJ's along with my Harley slippers with the flames on them........ soon I will be armed with a large assortment of snack food as I settle in for a day of Bowl games.....starting with the Peach Bowl at 11:30...... Since the Huskers had only 4 wins we did not get a bowl invite much to our dismay......we thought they should make an exception....So the Peach Bowl stars our entire coaching staff but someone else players..... oh well close enough for Husker Fans....... I hope to see a lot of fans wearing red at the game .....

the happiest of new years to all of my friends here at the Guru........ Go Big Red.....kinda........

We hit the movies last night also, it was a toss between Star Wars and Wonder. We ended up seeing Wonder for the 7:10 show and I wanted to come out of that and go right into the Star Wars one but we came on home. Figured we'd check on the water and the dog. We hung out till about 3am and went to bed.
Woke up to temps in the single digits, windchill of 0. You guys posting those -30 things give me a huge body shiver when I read those. I can't see how you deal with that.
High of 20 today and then low back to 7-8 again then temps will rise more. This doesn't usually happen here till around January and not this long, I have faucets dripping and cabinet doors open all over the house.

WHILE BRAD WAS PUTTING ON HIS LIGHT JACKET AND DON WAS COUNTING THE FROZEN RIFFRAFF, I PUT ON MY DUCK HUNTING OUTFIT AND WENT TO WATER THE DOGS AND FEED THE BARN CATS. THINGS GET COMPLICATED WHEN IT'S THIS COLD HERE; I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT'S LIKE IN THE EVER-FROZEN NORTH.

THE SUN IS SHINING AND IT LOOKS NICE UNTIL YOU WALK OUTSIDE AND YOUR NUMBS BECOME EXTREMITIES.

OKMULGEE TRIP SCRUBBED, SIL'S MOM WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH PNEUMONIA AND THEY ARE HEADING DOWN TO MARIETTA TO SEE ABOUT HER.

Saw Molly's Game, an interesting movie about a female Olympic skiing contender and her later heading up a poker room operation after a mishap dashed her dreams of Olympic contention. 4+ stars even on Rotten Tomatoes. A couple of impressive scenes with some excellent acting. Going to see Jumanji today with the stepson, his wife and the grandkids in an hour.

If you haven't seen Wonder, I'd recommend taking the kids. It was a great movie. It's about a kid that's bullied in school because of his looks, which stem from surgeries resulting from birth defects. Not a dry eye in the house. That movie needs to be a mandatory must see at the start of each school year I think. Very good acting in this one too tells sides from all aspects of the characters, mom, dad, the son (bullied kid), big sis, her friend, etc. Very impactive
