Greetings! I was awakened by a vivid dream around 3AM, never did get back to sleep. So I will be looking for a nap opportunity somewhere along the line. Meanwhile, 19 days to vacation, not that I'm counting.

Have a good day, all!

MIL is out of the hospital and into a rehab. A couple of days ago when Sue was at the hospital she asked the attending nurse about when they cleaned the wound on her mothers leg. The nurse responded 'Oh, we don't do that." Sue said "What do you mean you don't do that? It's on the doctors orders." Sue being Sue she pursued it through the chain and insisted upon talking to an administrator. It appears some nurses were signing off on cleaning the wound and NOT cleaning the wound. Vulcan hospitals. Sue's mother accidentally called Sue last night meaning to call Sue's father. She was in a lot of pain and no pain meds. Sue talked with the nurse. "I just put the prescription into the pharmacy 10 minutes ago." the nurse responded. Her mother was at the rehab most of the day and here it is many hours later they're just putting in for her pain meds. The hospitals have got bigger and tech has gone through the ceiling but I question medical care today. The revolving door of medicine has really lost it's sense of direction. Care is maybe not the right word nor is attention. It's kind of like in the commercials. "I'm just a monitor."

CLEAR & COLD IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, THE WEATHER GUESSERS PROMISE IT WILL WARM UP INTO THE 50'S. THE CHEROKEES WOULD BE PLEASED WITH THAT AND SO WOULD I.

NOTHING ON THE AGENDA TODAY, IF IT DOES GET WARM I MAY DO SOME DETAIL WORK ON THE BUMBLEBEE. I'VE GOT SOME AMMO MADE UP TO TRY OUT IN SEVERAL RIFLES BUT IT HAS BEEN WAY TOO COLD AND/OR WINDY TO GO TO THE RANGE.

OUR EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN THAT WHEN SOMEONE IS HOSPITALIZED THERE NEEDS TO BE A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND IN ATTENDANCE AT ALL TIMES IF IT'S IN ANY WAY SERIOUS. IT ALSO SEEMS WISE TO SHOP HOSPITALS, AS NOT ALL ARE EQUAL AS TO RESULTS AND/OR PATIENT CARE. IN NURSING HOMES IT SEEMS TO HELP IF YOU DROP IN UNANNOUNCED AT IRREGULAR INTERVALS.

I had a Vivian dream once......... as she slowly pulled off her tight sweater....... er never mind.......

So Uwoman is supposed to head out to Seattle over the weekend and of course she is sick as a dog......may have to try out the insurance we bought with the tickets that lets us reschedule the flights at a later time.....

Some health mojo her way would not be a bad thing......

Sun is out ......that's good.......still cold....that's bad.....

Doing my first Power Point program for a meeting and had a guy come out and show me how to digitize stuff and put them on the program.....very cool.....I am supposed to have 8 to 10 slides so when I got done with what I wanted to say I had 25 slides........ must do some editing for sure...... when you know all the stuff I know its hard to hold it back..... right?

Well Uwoman just came in and the Doc confirmed its the flu........damit.....

More later form from the moral central of the Nation........

Health mojo for Uwoman and Tommy's MIL. I have almost 0 faith in the healthcare industry - too often, all they care about is ringing the cash register.

Health mojo for your house for sure that flu bug is nasty this time around.
+1 on the hospital stays and nursing home visits. When my cousin was at the home here, she claims they 'abused' her. Let her fall once then cussed her for it. She has spinal stenosis and neuropathy of the lower spine, she cannot stand much alone and can't walk hardly at all and has little feeling in her feet. Rigorous therapy helps but Medicaid won't pay for it except to a point then it stops. By the time they pick it back up, she's needing to start all over. I made my presence known up there and firmly but nicely dealt with staff. We ended up moving her to Trumann. I let her handle her own issues and step in when necessary. It's our hometown. I have been told that one nurse told another "you better take care of XXX or you will have Letty up here..." I like that .

Morning guys.... Crisp and clear this morning, above freezing right now and headed to low 60s they say.

It's Rosie's birthday today. I told her I'd take her out to eat after she gets home from work. A new local place we've talked about trying.

I got a little work to do in the shop this morning and then this afternoon I'll go out to install the counter tops. I had GS #1, a friend of his and the neighbor guy help me deliver them yesterday, late afternoon. The two big pieces will be glued together once I get out there today. Need to set the sink in place too.....I don't do any plumbing on it though.....Have I ever told you guys I hate F*@king plumbing?

Just got a phone call from the lady who coordinates the "Kansas Honor flights". She told me she had just got off the phone with my FIL and we are scheduled on the May 2 flight to Washington DC.I think he's excited about going, as when we saw him on Sunday, the first thing he asked me was "Have you heard anything about our trip?" I will be going with him to be his 'guardian'.

Better get to it.

I'll let you all know how bad health care is in the big city of Wichita at the end of the month. so far, I liked my 'new' doctor, hopefully the hospital he uses will be just as good. That ws one reason why I had my hernia fixed at our local hospital last year....heck I walked home 45 minutes after coming around post op......well we know how that turned out....

....the bad part of that is.....he did not choose the Huskers so he is all messed up.....

After dealing with health care in other areas I find that Nebraska has a very high standard of care. Less population and world class facilities and everyone who works there is Nebraska nice!

Well, I got counter tops installed, toe kick area covered and holes for knobs and pulls drilled (waiting on the knobs and pulls to come in). Got home a little after Rosie, so I unloaded the pickup while she finished a walk. Then waited on the two younger GSs to get here and they went with us to eat. The new place was OK, service was a bit slow, one of the owners told us he really needs more servers, just had the one (his daughter, a former student of mine) and she was going non-stop the entire time we were there. It's a small place, but way more than she could handle on her own. Food was pretty good though.

This evening, we are just chilling out (not literally) as it was a gorgeous day in the low 60s and not much wind to speak of..
