Last Sunday, I think, I stated a problem regarding our kitchen sink sprayer leaking at the main connection.
Well fast forward to Wednesday night and I just happened to look and it was still leaking. Thankfully I'd placed a bucket under the repair and it continued to leak into it. When I looked further, the leak had accelerated to where I realized I'd better do something straight away. So there I was at bedtime turning off the valves and re-repairing the leak. This time, I removed the plug I'd and found the O-ring pressed up into the fixture.
Hmmm.....
So I got out the thread sealant.
The leak was at a livable, non-catastrophic flow rate, so again, the bucket was my friend.
So today, I Tackled the problem again. This is where I need to share one of my conclusions of wisdom with all of you. This is the understanding of the,"3-trip rule," which states that when working with your home plumbing, you will make three trips to the store for the first $10.00 you spend, and one trip for each $10.00 you spend thereafter.
So, this morning, I topped off my tank, and went to the store on my 1st trip.
Fast forward 'til now, I've made five trips so far, and we now have a new kitchen faucet, new valves, lines, and things are working as expected. However, I now have a leak off the hot side compression fitting, and I don't feel like fixing it. I'll have to to turn off the water at the meter again to fix it, and we still have the laundry to do, so hopefully it'll go another week while I get my butt back into the game for it. The worst part is that I'm 62, and 6'2" with a 50+" chest trying to squeeze into a cabinet that has a partition between the doors while working on my back, and the 4" elevation off the floor digging into me the entire time.
If I wasn't so cheap, I'd call a plumber and just pay the man, but then I don't think I'm ready to just give in like that.
The thrill of it all.............

I feel your pain - my wife still reminds me of a 5-trip plumbing debacle some years ago :P

Bob, Have I ever told you folks here, that I HATE F*@KING PLUMBING? Not sure, but I think I may have mentioned that here once.

I feel your pain, man. That's the way every f*@king plumbing job goes for me...it's NEVER easy. Also I will mention here; I never build sink cabinets with a center stile, just for that reason. Because I know someone (not freaking me) will have to get under there to fix something at some point. Also, when I have a problem like that, I jusy purchase a new fixture right off and have it installed. My plumber friend keeps telling me, "Oh, Tom, you don't need me. You can do that job yourself." Yes, I know that I could so it myself, but I don't need/want the aggravation it causes me. I hope you get it fixed soon......Oh, do you know about "shark bite" fixes? I'd never do another compression fixture.

I am a lifetime charter member of the I Hate F@(%ing Plumbing Club. I avoid it but have made it through a few pvc type tasks and faucet changing tasks. Forget about solder. Nope, ain't doing it. Solder opposing gravity and going up? Ya, right. Flux-U. They have a million stop leak products that have a 99.9% failure rate. Silly string and putty, silicone and sprays all should have "Sucker" written on them because we fall for it.
A/C involves plumbing. Ain't doing it. A/c guys I don't seem to mind paying but I hate coming out of my pocket for plumber. Don't know why, just do.

Gris, I agree with you, but every time I've called a plumber for stuff like this, some drunk shows up. It doesn't matter which company I call either.
If that's not bad enough, they like to talk to you like you're stupid for calling them. Even the idiots at Lowe's/HepomeDepot act like ashes as well.

Tom, yes Sharkbite will be used to fix the final leak I have.

I think drunk is a requirement for plumbing. Who would want to do it sober?

I am actually pretty good at it... don't mind it much at all... and when I can do a fix for $50 that woulda cost $500, I am really happy.

Ah, now this is the crux of the matter. Sometimes to save money one must endure pain or hardship. Plumbing often combines both.
