Driving to Georgia this evening after work. 10hr drive all thu the night... not looking forward to it.

Going to work on the car Friday and sort out a few very minor details....

1) I need to program the timing retard values into my ignition box.
2)I need to set the front end toe.
3) After that I need to weight the car with me in the seat to verify the F/R percentages but the preliminary weigh in (with my brother in the seat) showed the changes we made to the chassis moved a bunch of weight forward - which was the goal.

So... I labeled this as "Pre Season Testing" because it's before my regular MPC Real Street racing starts and I am testing but we are doing this at an actual race.....

Saturday we are taking the car to the "1 Shot 1 Kill" No Time small tire nitrous race at Middle Georgia Motorsports Park in Macon Ga. It's put on by the guy that did some chassis work on my car last winter Scott Milner at Coupe Performance.

It's a big race, with a lot of heavy hitters - So no pressure to perform right off the trailer, after a year of nothing but major changes to the car and no testing what-so-ever.... LOL.

I am excited. Ready to get the car out there and see what we got on our hands this season.

Well we got a lot more work to do....

We should have tested the car before taking it to a big race. There just was not enough practice time before eliminations started to get everything sorted out.

On my one practice run, I had problems with the nitrous switch not touching the carb linkage... not even sure how that got messed up because it lined up and worked fine for 2yrs before this.

The nitrous was working in 1st round eliminations and I cut a great light but I could tell the car wasn't pulling very hard and he quickly caught me.... I glanced at the AF reading and it was just off the map lean... I initially thought my Wide Band O2 was messed up because it was reading 14.7 going down the track.... but I went a head, lifted and coasted to the end... I could tell something was wrong and he was already past me so the race was over, no reason to hurt something.

We went back and changed some stuff on the fuel pressure and made a test pass but again the AF was 14.4 before the sensor burned up and the controller gave me the error code for voltage out of range.... So I had to lift early or risk hurting the engine.

We again tried to put more fuel to it and make another test pass between rounds but again we were unsuccessful and the AF was 14 something before the controller gave the voltage range error code again..... No doubt the heat burned the O2 sensor up.

So we are pulling the intake/nitrous kit off it tonight and sending it out to a different company to get fixed... I have had a lot of tuning issues with this kit from day one and it even cost me a set of pistons a few years ago.... It's just time to move on and let someone else take a swing at fixing it.

The engine was running fine when we loaded up to go home and again when I unloaded it the next morning..... but we are still going to leak down test it just to make sure.

Hope to have the intake and kit back in a few weeks and then we will do some more testing.

We did have a good time at the race. Middle Ga Motorsports Park puts on a good show. The track was prepped very good and the they kept the show interesting and constantly moving with numerous grudge races and test passes between elimination rounds.

For sure we will get this sorted out and be back.
