Good Morning CGs!

The other day my buddy called me and let me know he got us some free tickets to the Sunday Nascar race. He'd never been before and neither had I. So Sunday morning we left early and hit the track. Luckily it's not far from my house. We had infield pit passes and a free breakfast so we did that first. Then we hung out for a bit because the race didn't start until 1:30. Watched all of the prerace stuff which was pretty cool. Cars started up (loud, impressive) and got out on the track. First couple of laps seemed interesting and exciting. After that it was just cars driving around in a circle. I didn't see the appeal. Buddy didn't, either. We were just plain bored. We left early, only watched about 1/3 of the race itself. I don't regret it, that was the right choice. At least I can say I went to a race. I guess I just don't get the Nascar craze.

Weather was crazy hot over the weekend. It seems to have cooled down a few degrees which is nice.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning all.
Mat, I'm with you on the NASCAR craze. After a while it's just the same cars going in a circle. But I think if someone takes the time to watch the teams and gain a loyalty to a certain team/ driver and differences in their approach to the cars and how they live within the rules to find that little extra, you'll begin to see the fascination.
A guy I've known for a number of years has had that interest. The company he works for has begun to develop aerodynamic parts for a team, and they work! so for a number of people, it's the tech that gets them interested.

Morning guys...going to be hot again today. Well, what would you expect? It is summertime. Headed to KC today for the 4th then on the 5th we are headed back west a ways to spend some time with Rosies' brothers, sister, their spouses and Dad at the lake for a few days.

Not sure what the internet will be like while at the lake, so I'll check in when I can. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe 4th of July.

Ya, as with any sport it's more interesting if you have a favorite team or home team. I watched NASCAR in the late 60's and early 70's then came back to it through the 90's and early 2000's. Then lost interest. I also had in interest in CART/INDY racing then lost interest in that. Sebring, the track, IMSA and Formula Racing is interesting but don't have time for that stuff and viewing is difficult at best. When I was autocrossing I was totally uninvolved with outside racing. I learned a long time ago when the teams, especially NASCAR teams are out, the crews pack up and go home.

Happy early Independence Day everyone, especially for those that will be out of touch. Sue asked me what I wanted to do for the 4th. I said ... "Nothing" I'll probably work because stuff won't get done if I don't work on finishing it.

Greetings! More chores to do today, but I made sure to start the day with a professional-grade sleep-in. Kinda gloomy out there, but I think it'll stay dry. Naturally the weather geniuses are calling for some kind of deluge tomorrow.

Have a good day, all!

NASCAR was a lot more fun back when there weren't so many rules. It was easy to tell the brands apart since they were using actual body panels, not these cookie cutter cars with different decals. And with the exception of the "Camaro" that Chevy is running everything out there is a non existent 2 door version of a 4 door sedan.

Sorry for the long rant but it is HOT and that tends to make me cranky.

DIRECTV had an appointment foe 12:00 - 4:00 PM. Looks like it's gonna be closer to the 04:00 PM end. I hate waiting for contractors. Messes with my flow.

Good afternoon, all!

The University closed at 2:00 PM today, so I took the train home early. Ivelis sweetly picked me up at the train station in the still notable heat—my fancy LaCrosse thermometer tells me that it peaked at 98 today. I than stupidly went out to the garage and fought with the 2003; suddenly, it has a rough idle.

Matt, most folks who do have a NASCAR interest think that Sunday's race was one of top three of the year. So, if that wasn't your thing, I don't think NASCAR is going to deliver for you.

We made it to KC. The highest temp we saw on the pickup thermometer was 104....good thing the pickup has a good AC and AC seats.

I’m with you Ken. In the attempt to “equalize” things they have removed any and all individuality. It sucks......
