A GREAT DAY?
THAT WOULD BE NICE. THE CHEROKEES WOULD EVEN SETTLE FOR AN "OK" DAY.

STILL HOT AND HUMID IN THE NATIONS, I LOOK FOR A BREAK IN THE HEAT AROUND MID-SEPTEMBER :-) I DID GET THE DOG PEN WEED-EATED, OR SHOULD THAT BE WEED-EATEN? NOTHING ON THE AGENDA, DARLING WIFE SCURRYING ABOUT GETTING READY FOR NEXT WEEK'S ALASKAN CRUSE WITH GRAND KIDS AND THEIR OTHER GRANDMOTHER. WITH #6 GRANDSON ALONG, THEY MAY NEED EXTRA FOOD ON THAT SHIP.

#6 IN YOUNGER DAYS:

Good afternoon, all.

Bill, that picture should be good for much future embarrassment.

Got back a little over an hour ago from a short three-day gallivant up in the Poconos. We travelled around 370 miles total, spending nights in Bethlehem and Scranton. The highlight of the trip was a visit to Steamtown:

—a few pictures coming soon.

The 2012 broke 60,000 miles on this trip—Louis sits quietly in the garage at 60,066.

:-) THAT'S NOT ACTUALLY #6, BUT THE BEHAVIOR IS TYPICAL OF HIM AT THAT AGE AND EVER AFTER.

STEAM LOCOMOTIVES ARE SO NOSTALGIC. IN THE LATE 40'S I WOULD WATCH THEM OUT BY LUBBOCK TEXAS, PASSING BY WITH ENDLESS STRINGS OF CATTLE CARS. THE DIESELS ARE TERMINALLY BLAND.
