Wow! Yesterday was one of those days where everything you touch and stuff you don't touch stop working right or don't work out as you thought they would. Left me feeling glad the day was ending. Late in the evening as I walked by the central A/C air handler I heard this gurgling sound. Gurgling sounds are not good. The filter was soaked and water was just starting to drip down into the overflow tray. Pulled the filter and noticed that the water discharge line that goes outside was clogged. It was around 09:30 PM (21:50 hours). Go to the shed and get the wet vac and an extension cord. The vac sucked and sucked and then pah-loo. A deposit of slime and blocked water that had built up cleared. Years of previous experience led me to the solution. Many would have just shut down the unit and called an A/C company. By 10:00 PM I was sitting back in the comfort of my recliner hoping that this would be the grand finale to one of those days when nothing goes right. All day I just kept dealing with stuff and not once did I get pissed. Guess I was just too physically tired to waste good energy on anger. Anger never helps anyway. Not unless I want to break stuff.

I remember the prayer

When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

Or was that The Beatles .........

Hey guys.... Right before we left for KC last week, we got a notice that an older couple from our church, had had some sort of water damage in their house. They are late 70s or early 80s and don't have much money, basically living on next to nothing. The projected cost of mold remediation was going to be in the $10-12k range plus fixing it back up. They have 8 kids, 5 of which I had as students and 5 of which are in construction industry. Well, whie we were in KC "Mom" calls Rosie, (she didn't have mmy number) asking if I could come look at the house to see what could be done. So, Monday when we got home, I call her and said I would come over and take a look.

I was expecting a horrible situation, but once there, the remediation company had made huge progress and the damage wasn't as bad as I was anticipating, not good, but not as bad as I was expecting. Anyway 'Mom' tells me I need to call one of the boys and talk to them about what I thought. So I did and through my conversations (with both Mom and son) I cam to the conclusion that 'mom and dad' didn't own the house, but this son which I was told to call and talk to. Any how, most of the kids were going to be home this weekend to start on repairing and they asked me to come over and talk to the others, advise and offer suggestions/help. 3 of the kids in the industry were there as well as their spouses and a couple grands (two of which are also in the industry) were all there ready to kick a$$. But not the one who owns the house, he's a truck driver and got stuck in Chicago and couldn't make it. The decision was made, beings we were torn down as far as we were, that some updating was in order. so a plan was cut and work started. I ended up spending the entire day there, helping. They asked me to be the 'general', beings the ones in the industry live in Denver and can't be around as the rest of the work progresses, I have agreed to do that. And I will be doing the kitchen cabinets and counter tops.

You need to understand, I'm very close to this family. Going back 40 years when I first moved here to start teaching and having these kids in school and having a huge impact on their decisions to go into the building industry, some of them drifting back and me working with/for them on projects and 'mom and dad' who they all go to our church, so the decision to help them was a no-brainer on my part.

Sorry to be long....

Glad you were able to fix the AC yourself Tommy. Gris, good to hear the dog house is nearly complete and painted. Chicken, Marcus? We are doing chicken on our grill tomorrow. Tommy, that does sound familiar....might be the Beatles.
